Systems Engineer, Controls Fleet, Data Center Capacity Delivery
Are you experienced in managing IT systems with a passion for building highly-available infrastructure at massive scale? Join us in driving cloud innovation and automation, deploying mission-critical systems that power global operations.
AWS Infrastructure Services designs, delivers, and operates the global infrastructure that keeps AWS running. We manage the critical data center components — from servers and networking to power and cooling — that ensure continuous service for our customers. Within this organization, the Controls Fleet team builds and supports critical infrastructure services that power the world's premier e-commerce and cloud computing environments.
We are seeking a passionate and motivated Systems Engineer to join our team. In this role, you'll deploy infrastructure, develop automation tools, and manage large-scale environments supporting data center operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong Windows Server administration background (Linux experience also valued), hands-on experience with physical data center infrastructure, and proficiency in automation and scripting (PowerShell, Python, or Bash). Experience with AWS cloud services and hybrid infrastructure environments is highly desired. Strong communication skills, project management aptitude, and the ability to collaborate effectively with global stakeholders are essential to success in this role. We value candidates who solve complex technical challenges through root cause analysis, can manage multiple concurrent projects, and clearly communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences. You'll make an impact by deploying and managing critical infrastructure, developing automation tools and solutions for large-scale environments, supporting hybrid cloud infrastructure, and driving security and reliability improvements across the fleet.
You will be working in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift quickly. You must be flexible and adapt well to a wide range of tasks and technologies. This role involves participation in a 24x7 on-call rotation and occasional travel (approximately 25%, valid passport required).
At Amazon, it is expected that your technical knowledge demonstrates both depth and breadth. Leveraging the strengths of individual team members as peers and delegating tasks appropriately within the group for long-term projects will all be critical tasks for this role. If you are passionate about technology, excited by the prospect of working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and driven to solve complex problems, we would love to hear from you.
You are expected to be onsite at a minimum five days a week.

- Collaboration & Communication: Partner with internal teams including networking, software, developers, and controls engineers; communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences across global teams
- Security & Compliance: Implement robust security measures, identify risks, develop mitigation plans, and ensure infrastructure meets security best practices throughout system transitions
- Operational Support: Participate in 24/7 on call rotation (primary and secondary, one week rotations) and maintain availability for occasional travel (approximately 25%, valid passport required)
