Sr. Software Development Engineer, Payments - MENA and APAC Affordability

We are looking for a talented Software Development Engineers to join our team; managing affordability based payments across MENA and APAC regions.
In this role, you will build and operate highly available, scalable distributed systems that power payment experiences for millions of customers across MENA and APAC regions. Also, you will get to work alongside a team of passionate engineers solving complex technical challenges at the intersection of payments, technology, and customer experience.
Key job responsibilities
Design & Build: Define, design, and implement multi-tier distributed software applications that support payment processing at scale.
Plan & Deliver: Lead high visibility projects by estimating engineering effort, planning implementation, and rolling out system changes that meet requirements for functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, and adherence to development goals and principles.
Independent Ownership: Independently design, code, and test major features, as well as work jointly with and guide other team members to deliver complex changes.
Cross-Team Collaboration: Effectively collaborate in a fast-paced environment with multiple teams in a large organization (Software Development, QA, Project/Release Management, Build and Release, etc.).
Operational Excellence: Provide on-call production support for payment platform applications, ensuring high availability and rapid incident resolution.
Engineering Excellence: Contribute to system performance by identifying optimization opportunities, and implementing improvements to ensure our services meet demanding scale and accuracy requirements.

Our vision for the organisation is to make payments trusted, convenient, and rewarding through strategic execution across multiple markets and regions. Following on this vision, we're not just processing transactions — we're reimagining how Installment products are built at Amazon, making affordable payment options accessible to every customer across MENA and APAC regions. As part of this process, we're building engineering teams to move fast, think big, and turn that vision into reality.

Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
