About the team and the role: eBay, Inc. seeks Software Engineer 2 in San Jose, CA
What you will accomplish:
Job Duties: Define, design, and implement highly scalable, resilient, and performant distributed systems. Produce clear, well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews. Follow Definition of Done (DoD) process for better quality by maintaining over 80% unit test coverage and other release criteria standards. Develop technical and domain expertise and apply to solving product challenges. Utilize PromQL in conjunction with Sherlock to analyze application status, ensuring optimal uptime and performance across various microservices. Leverage Java, Kotlin, and Spring Boot to architect and implement microservices within the value-added services platform, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and robustness. Employ a combination of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and Redis, alongside SQL databases, to efficiently manage diverse data needs and optimize performance within the application ecosystem. Leverage JUnit for unit testing and TestNG for crafting integration tests, establishing a comprehensive testing framework that ensures optimal application behavior and reliability throughout the development process. Design and implement user-facing interfaces utilizing JavaScript, React, and Marko for the Value-Added Services (VAS) platform. Utilize Java to architect experience service layers, orchestrating downstream responses and formatting them for seamless integration across iOS, Android, and web clients, ensuring a unified and consistent user experience across platforms. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.
What you will bring:
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering or a closely related field plus one year of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
- Experience designing and developing large-scale software applications using Object-Oriented Design and Java (1 year)
- Experience with Computer Science foundation (experience in data structures, algorithms, OOPs, OOA/D) (1 year)
- Building data-driven applications (e.g. RDBMS, NoSQL, ElasticSearch) (1 year)
- Experience in designing and developing microservices (1 year)
- Experience in REST API framework (1 year)
- Experience with GraphQL (1 year)
- Experience delivering results in fast-paced environments (agile methodologies, Test Driven Development, CI/CD) (1 year)
- Experience in Spring/Springboot framework to design and implement microservices (1 year)
- Experience with messaging systems (1 year)
Salary: $137,669.00-196,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Additional Details
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
