Software Development Engineer
The Opportunity
Are you ready to rethink asset management by building shoulder-to-shoulder with the customers who actually use it? Astra is a small, fast-moving team that partners directly with top-tier global enterprise brands to co-innovate new capabilities across the asset lifecycle. We do not build in isolation and hand over a feature list. We sit with practitioners, learn what they are really trying to get done, and ship radically simple solutions that solve it.
We are an AI-native team, and AI-assisted coding is a large part of how a small team ships production-grade work at a pace that surprises our customers. As a Full-Stack Engineer, you will design and build features across the stack, work directly with customers to validate what you ship, and grow your craft alongside senior engineers. The work is deliberately broad and shifts as new opportunities emerge. If you are energized by ambiguity, by moving without a finished spec, and by being close enough to the customer to hear the problem before anyone has named it, this is where you will do your best work.
What you'll do
Design and ship full-stack features end to end through fast iterations, from spec through validation, writing high-quality, well-tested code.
Apply AI across your development workflow to move faster, and review and validate AI-generated output.
Contribute to design at the sub-system and component level, designing for testability and debugging across components.
Prototype rapidly across frontend, backend, web apps, and agents; put working software in front of stakeholders early and iterate on feedback.
Partner with customers and practitioners to understand their needs and validate solutions directly.
Translate loose or ambiguous requirements into clear, actionable specs and working solutions.
Keep enterprise realities such as IT, security, and non-functional requirements in mind, and factor them into your work.
Share knowledge within the team and pick up new concepts and technologies quickly as we grow the team.
What you need to succeed
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or an advanced degree or equivalent experience, and 5+ years of software development experience.
Deep full-stack expertise across front-end and back-end technologies, including strong JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, and Node.js.
AI-native by practice, not by curiosity. You treat AI as a collaborator, are hands-on with tools such as Claude Code or Codex, and apply spec-driven, guardrailed workflows across your full development process. This is a core requirement of the role.
Able to contribute solid design at the component and sub-system level, and debug across components and layers.
Strong customer-facing instincts. You can work directly with stakeholders, understand what they need, and listen closely enough to catch the need behind the request.
Awareness of enterprise environments, including IT, security, and compliance dynamics, and the non-functional requirements they bring.
A collaborative approach to the team: presenting solutions, prioritizing well, and helping others.
Bonus: experience with digital asset management, AEM Assets, or enterprise content distribution.
