Software Developer, Ads Safety Enablement and Prevention
Due to the scale and reach of Google Ads, abuse can cause significant user harm and substantial business losses, as well as damaging Google’s reputation. Abuse fighting is inherently complex due to its adversarial nature that requires continuous adaptation to evolving and increasingly sophisticated tactics, and the overarching constraint to protect legitimate actors.
This role offers a unique opportunity to develop solutions to protect Google Ads from ever changing attacks and has significant room for growth. The work is highly visible and the potential impact both on Google Ads business and users is substantial. There are ample opportunities with cross-functional teams like Ads Quality, Advertiser Platform, Trust and Safety, GBO, and Research, and cross-product teams like YouTube, AdSpam, and Play.

Responsibilities
Write product or system development code.
- Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
- Work with the team to develop solutions to classify and understand actors and their assets including destinations in Google Ads using modern machine learning techniques.
- Collaborate with partner teams to provide holistic solutions to detect and stop bad actors from re-entering Google Ads, and to reduce friction for good actors.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
- 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
- Experience with programming in C++, Python, or SQL.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
- Experience developing accessible technologies.
- Experience in building scalable ML systems.
- Experience in anti-abuse adversarial domain.
- Experience in large-scale data analysis.
