Help serve Google's worldwide user base of more than a billion people. Data Scientists provide quantitative support, market understanding and a strategic perspective to our partners throughout the organization. As a data-loving member of the team, you serve as an analytics expert for your partners, using numbers to help them make better decisions. You will weave stories with meaningful insight from data. You'll make critical recommendations for your fellow Googlers in Engineering and Product Management. You relish tallying up the numbers one minute and communicating your findings to a team leader the next.

As a part of the Consumer Payments Growth (CPG) team, you will be dedicated to accelerating the adoption, usage, and preference of Google Wallet and GPay across everyday payment journeys. You will operate as a global horizontal team, partner closely with cross-functional and product teams across Consumer Payments to drive growth in high-priority areas. As informed by deep analytics and user insights, you will systematically resolve critical friction points across the user life-cycle while capitalizing on key user behaviors to build sustainable engagement loops. You will reach users across Wallet, Google Pay (GPay) and Google first-party surfaces, delivering targeted communications that nudge key actions, as well as delightful, relevant Rewards and Incentives powered natively and in collaboration with first-party and third-party partners. You will operate with an iterative, test-and-learn approach, leverage a scalable Growth and Data platform that will become increasingly AI-enabled to deploy high-velocity, effective growth interventions, with sophisticated measurement capabilities at its core.Whether it is paying online with Autofill, using tap and pay in stores, or using the Google Pay app, the Payments team at Google is focused on making payments simple, seamless, and secure. In addition to consumer payment technologies, the Payments team also powers the money movement between Google and its consumers and businesses.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex projects that combine analytical excellence with organizational strategy, delivering clear and actionable insights that inform tangible business decisions.
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to stakeholders across product, engineering, and executive leadership, influencing key decisions at multiple levels.
  • Contribute to the development and alignment of team Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and analytics strategy to ensure they support broader product and business goals across the Payments organization.
  • Implement Gen AI–based approaches to automate insights, enable faster decision-making, and explore agentic analytics use cases across the Payments ecosystem.
  • Promote best practices in data science, ensuring the adoption of scalable, efficient methodologies across projects.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 8 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, performing statistical analysis, and coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL) or 5 years of work experience with a Master's degree.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in product analytics within Payments, e-commerce, or financial services.
  • Experience working with Engineers, Product Managers, and UX especially around providing product-centric insights.
  • Experience with the use of data-warehouse tables and operational data and ability to effectively write/modify SQL queries of high-complexity.
  • Experience working with statistical packages (e.g. Python) to solve real world problems.
  • Proven ability to manage sprint planning and execution across analysts, with clear alignment to executive leadership.
  • Exceptional communication, influence, and presentation skills to deliver findings of analysis.
