Senior Manager, Application Software Engineering
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Software Development to lead the AI Platform and Productivity Engineering organization. In this role, you will manage and develop an engineering team responsible for delivering secure, reliable, production-grade AI capabilities that improve employee productivity and accelerate enterprise AI adoption. You will drive execution across enterprise plugins for common productivity workflows, Codex enablement tooling, shared plugin and service architecture, and dynamic model-enforcement implementation.
You will be accountable for translating strategy into prioritized engineering roadmaps, high-quality releases, and operationally supportable services. This includes establishing strong engineering practices for architecture, quality, reliability, security-aware execution, production operations, and ongoing service ownership. You will ensure the team builds reusable platform capabilities that scale across use cases
Leads one or more platform teams; defines tactical and key strategic elements for middleware evolution serving multiple consumers. Accountable for performance, cost control, and reliability outcomes; escalations for distributed debugging and upgrade safety. Drives significant cross-team improvements to observability, SLOs, and resilience patterns. Engages stakeholders inside and outside the group; socializes migration plans and adoption playbooks.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $118,300 to $264,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and scale the AI Platform and Productivity Engineering team, accountable for delivery of secure, reliable, production-grade AI capabilities across enterprise productivity workflows.
- Translate enterprise AI strategy into an executable engineering roadmap, aligning team priorities with OCI objectives, platform standards, security requirements, cost efficiency, and measurable adoption outcomes.
- Deliver enterprise-grade plugins, Codex enablement tooling, shared plugin and service architecture, and dynamic model-enforcement capabilities that enable teams to adopt AI safely and consistently.
- Partner with the Enterprise AI strategy team to implement the common operating model, including reusable patterns, quality guardrails, usage telemetry, cost intelligence, and adoption guidance.
- Establish and operate a plugin reuse registry and certification process, enabling teams to discover trusted capabilities, avoid duplicate development, and retire redundant or low-value AI assets.
- Define and implement technical patterns that scale AI usage without linear cost growth, including token and context optimization, workflow-based model selection, and policy-driven model.
- Partner closely with product, engineering, architecture, security, legal, compliance, finance, communications, AI Champions, and partner teams to translate shared priorities into scalable platform.
- Establish rigorous engineering practices for architecture, development, testing, release management, production operations, incident response, reliability, and supportability.
- Ensure the team’s platform and plugins meet enterprise standards for security, privacy, governance, observability, quality, and operational readiness.
- Manage technical dependencies, capacity, delivery risks, and tradeoffs across the portfolio; sequence work to maximize reuse, adoption, business impact, and engineering leverage.
- Serve as the senior engineering voice, communicating delivery status, risks, decisions, and roadmap progress to senior OCI leadership.
- Hire, mentor, coach, and develop engineers and engineering leaders; establish clear expectations, career growth plans, and accountability for delivery and operational outcomes.
- Define and track success metrics for the platform, including adoption, plugin reuse, delivery velocity, reliability, policy compliance, cost efficiency, and user satisfaction.
- Provides direction to multiple teams on addressing complex operational and/or technical issues as well as providing guidance on analyzing complex data and/or information to identify solutions. Reviews and provides insights into unresolved or critical issues, helping the team to identify potential solutions.
- Establish guardrails for APIs/SDKs and upgrade playbooks; track adoption and risk.
Minimum Job Qualifications Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's of Technology (B.Tech) Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Mathematics, Physics, or related field AND 5 years of experience in software development
- 6 years of experience with programming and/or scripting languages (e.g., SQL, C/C++, JavaScript).
- 4 years of experience with databases.
- People Leadership / Management Experience: 2+years of people experience managing direct reports.
- Budget Experience: 2 years of experience working with operating budgets and/or project financials.
- Cloud Platforms Experience:3 years of experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google, Oracle Cloud).

- 2+ years of experience building, integrating, or operating AI-enabled applications, developer tools, productivity platforms, or generative AI capabilities.
- Experience with large language model (LLM) application patterns, including prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation, tool/function calling, agentic workflows, and evaluation methods.
- Experience implementing AI governance, security, privacy, model-access controls, or policy-driven model selection.
- Experience optimizing AI cost and performance through model routing, token and context management, usage telemetry, caching, or workload optimization.
- Experience designing reusable AI platform capabilities, plugins, services, or integrations that support adoption across multiple teams.
