Security Systems Design Engineer

The Design Engineer creates unique design solutions to meet specific customer requirements for commercial security systems in new and existing facilities. The right candidate will make recommendations for productivity improvements and cost reductions to increase customer satisfaction and job profitability.
As a Design Engineer, you will:
- Choose the appropriate mix of products and installation methods to provide the most cost-effective solution.
- Prepare submittals and schedules; handle the ordering of products and equipment and participate in sales-to-operations turnover meetings to evaluate accuracy of the sales estimate and job layout.
- Design security access control and CCTV systems for buildings, including floorplan drawings for system device locations, riser diagrams, device wiring details, panel mounting and wiring details, bills of materials, and sequences of operations to meet the intent of the project plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Provide general electrical calculations, including camera lens selection, conduit fills, power supply sizing, etc. and prepare engineering re-estimates and follow up with appropriate sales and management to ensure understanding of and satisfaction with job scope.
- Follow up with sales and management to ensure job scope, specifications, and schematics will meet customer needs and provide start-up and checkout documentation to the Project Manager for use in commissioning and validation.

Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or state-recognized GED; OR Candidates with at least 3 years of security access control and CCTV system design experience will also be considered
- Must be able to demonstrate:
- Knowledge of engineering fundamentals of security access control and CCTV systems or equivalent field experience with security system controls
- Knowledge of the following access control system components: access control panels, door lock power supplies, card readers (proximity, keypad, biometric), door locks (mag-lock, electric strike, electric mortise), and request-to-exit devices (manual and passive infrared)
- Knowledge of the following CCTV system components: coaxial and ethernet cameras (fixed, PTZ, 180-deg, 360-deg), camera mounts (ceiling, wall, pendant, parapet, indoor/outdoor), ethernet IP addressing, ethernet limitations, ethernet switches and patch panels, and power-over-ethernet (PoE)
- The ability to read and interpret electrical circuit diagrams
- 2+ Experience with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
- Verbal and written communication skills in English
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree
- Revit experience

The pay range for this position is $50,908 - $87,271 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
