Quality & Reliability Engineer – Semiconductor Manufacturing (m/w/d) – MQR
Quality & Reliability Engineer – Semiconductor Manufacturing (m/w/d) – MQR
Are you ready to help build and shape one of Europe’s most advanced semiconductor manufacturing sites from the ground up? As a Manufacturing Quality & Reliability Engineer at ESMC in Dresden, you will act as a key defender of our manufacturing quality, ensuring our in-process wafers meet the highest standards of reliability. You will evaluate risk during production anomalies, manage technical changes, and prevent future failures to ensure zero-defect delivery to our global customers.
Your journey begins with a comprehensive 2-week local onboarding directly on-site in Dresden to get you aligned with our local team. Immediately following this, you will embark on an intensive, approximately 9~12-month on-the-job training program in Taiwan. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with world-class technology, build a global professional network, and prepare for your future responsibilities in Dresden.
Job Responsibilities
1. In-Process Quality Control: Supervise, monitor, and assess in-process wafers in the fab to ensure production conforms to strict quality baselines.
2. Risk Assessments: Perform systematic product reliability risk assessments when unexpected production events occur (utilizing CP, DVS, baking, HTOL, etc.).
3. Engineering Change Verification: Evaluate the impact of manufacturing and process changes on final product quality and long-term reliability.
4. Qualification & Monitoring: Execute robust process and product qualifications and establish routine reliability testing schedules.
5. Continuous Improvement: Drive projects to reduce customer line and field returns (DPPM) through systematic process improvements.
6. Structured Problem Solving: Lead and execute root-cause analyses for complex technical issues using industry-standard methodologies (such as 8D, PDCA, 5-Why, and Kepner-Tregoe).
7. Global Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional engineering teams in Germany and Taiwan to maintain and align quality standards.
Job Qualifications
Must Have
1. Education: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
2. Professional Experience: 0 to 3 years of initial experience, internships, or academic project work in a semiconductor fab, microelectronics cleanroom, or a comparable high-tech manufacturing environment.
3. Analytical Mindset: Familiarity with basic quality tools and systematic problem-solving methods (e.g., 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa, SPC).
4. Language Skills: Professional working proficiency in English (essential for the training in Taiwan and daily international technical collaboration).
5. Mobility: Full willingness and flexibility to complete the 9~12-month onboarding and training program in Taiwan.
Nice to Have
1. Direct experience with semiconductor reliability testing (e.g., HTOL, ESD, Latch-up).
2. Knowledge of automotive quality standards (e.g., AEC-Q100, IATF 16949, ISO 26262).
3. Experience with statistical data analysis software (e.g., JMP, Minitab, R, or Python).
4. Basic to conversational German language skills.
