Your New Role
The Producer, Global Digital Video is responsible for pitching and producing video news stories that resonate with CNN’s digital audience. This role monitors daily news developments, researches stories, writes scripts, edits video content, and supports video production both in-office and occasionally in the field. The position plays a key role in identifying compelling story angles, experimenting with creative storytelling approaches, and delivering engaging news content across digital platforms.
The ideal candidate is a video-first storyteller who thrives in a fast-paced news environment and enjoys the challenge of short-form editing. They are a reporter who values accuracy and fairness; a team player willing to jump in and help at a moment’s notice. They should have extensive experience working independently, writing scripts and editing projects in Adobe Premiere. They can assess the news value of a story and use data to predict audience interest. A love of news and creative mindset are a must, along with an ability to navigate a large deadline-driven organization.
This role involves participation in a rotating weekend roster, and candidates must be comfortable working weekends when scheduled.
Your Role Accountabilities
Research, write scripts, edit video content, and produce stories for all digital platforms.
Identify compelling angles on news stories and develop creative approaches to explain complex topics.
Monitor breaking news, live events, search trends, and social media activity to identify audience-focused story opportunities.
Generate and pitch story ideas on a regular basis.
Shoot video in office and studio environments and occasionally support field reporting on breaking news and enterprise stories.
Experiment with emerging video formats and storytelling techniques across multiple platforms.
Collaborate with colleagues across CNN bureaus worldwide to coordinate coverage and gather content.
Qualifications & Experience
Extensive experience working at a major media outlet, or equivalent professional experience.
Deep understanding of digital video production and social media platforms.
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere is required, with experience editing digital video content to a professional standard.
Experience fact-checking stories and conducting interviews.
Passion for breaking news and current events.
Track record of collaborating in a deadline-driven environment.
Availability to work holidays, weekends, overnights, and extended hours as required by the news cycle and production deadlines.
Foreign language skills are a plus.
