THE ROLE:
We are seeking a highly motivated Member of Technical Staff (MTS), Physical Design Engineer to join our Silicon Design team. In this role, you will be responsible for the implementation and signoff of complex SoC and GPU subsystems across advanced process technologies. You will work closely with RTL, architecture, timing, methodology, power, and physical design teams to deliver high-quality silicon that meets aggressive performance, power, area, and schedule goals.
The ideal candidate possesses strong technical expertise in ASIC physical implementation, timing closure, and signoff methodologies, along with the ability to independently drive critical project deliverables and mentor junior engineers. This role aligns with AMD's MTS technical expectations, including ownership of technically significant work, solving complex problems, influencing technical decisions, and leading development improvements.
THE PERSON:
You have a passion for modern, complex processor architecture, digital design, and verification in general. You are a team player who has excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with other engineers located in different sites/timezones. You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and are willing to learn and ready to take on problems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understand the architecture of the graphics IP and functional block being designed
- Work with global Front-End design team and physical design team for large scale ASIC chip physical implementation.
- Focus on physical design of deep sub-micron GPU chips including block level (full chip) floor planning, timing closure, place&route, physical verification etc.
- Responsible for multiple aspects in PD areas and provide technically leadership to the engineering team.
- Accountable for in time project delivery.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Solid working experience in Physical design, Including: Floorplan, P&R, timing, PV, clock and other back-end skills.
- Familiar with EDA tools from Synopsys/Mentor/cadence.
- good programming/scripting skills.
- Experiences with leading projects is a plus.
- To able to learn and work as a team
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in computer engineering/Electrical Engineering
