Description
In this critical, highly visible role, you will have the opportunity to craft the next generation of optical sensing modules for Apple's entire product line. You will manage projects involving the design, integration and launch of innovative optical sensing technologies for world-renowned Apple products. The optical sensing team features a collaborative environment with creative, smart people and cutting edge technologies. engineering excellence is expected. You will lead a highly cross functional team to navigate through uncertainties, be adapt to rapid changing scenarios, and lead complex decisions with the final goal to deliver the best technology into the hands of millions of people!
Responsibilities
- Define and drive execution of build plans for multiple module integrators and component suppliers.
- Serve as the primary lead during module development and advocate for the best module performance throughout the organization.
- Responsible for driving optical sensing modules on schedule. Constantly engage in pro-active risk management and communicating status and issues to the development team and Apple executives.
- Focus the efforts of the hardware, software, mechanical engineering, and operations teams, bringing their expertise together to design, manufacture, and integrate camera and laser modules for Apple's entire product line.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS in STEM field (e.g. EE, ME, Physics, etc.) and +3 years relevant experience
- Product development, engineering, or program management experience shipping consumer electronic systems, semiconductor, or other electronic hardware
- Curiosity about and familiarity with AI tools—with interest to apply them to improve engineering and program workflows
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally (typically once per year; accommodations available as needed)
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant industry experience designing optical sensing hardware or project management relevant experience in a similar field.
- Knowledge of optical module design and subcomponents.
- Advanced engineering degree
- Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills
- Confident in delivering technical data with ability to filter and distill relevant information for the right audience
- In-depth technical engineering knowledge to effectively establish and manage project and operational KPIs, assess and drive technical risks, and critically challenge engineering decisions.
- Proven ability to effectively manage multiple global contract manufacturers and vendors.
- Understands and deals well with rapid development cycles; remains flexible and calm in the face of uncertainty
- Self-motivated and proactive with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities
- You should be able to fit in well with a team, understand capabilities and priorities while, cultivating a team environment.
