Field & Scale Operations, which sits within Microsoft Business Operations, provides operations support for Microsoft customers, sellers and partners to accelerate business outcomes across Microsoft’s commercial businesses. We are accountable for designing and executing scalable operational services across the customer lifecycle. We deliver process efficiency, timeliness, quality and compliance, while enabling exceptional customer and seller experience.

The hiring organisation, EMEA Field Operations, sits within Microsoft Business Operations. Microsoft Business Operations launches, transacts, optimises and closes gaps for the Company. MBO transacts using a continuously modernising performance engine for Microsoft’s existing commercial businesses and closes gaps to accelerate the success of Microsoft’s emerging businesses and organic ventures.

Responsibilities

Position Description 

Group Manager, Operations Deal Management is a people manager role. The selected individual will work closely with: 

  1. Operational Deal Management teams
  2. Key Field Sales and Marketing leaders and other stakeholders, including Transact Services, Partner Business Management and Field Operations Managers
  3. ODM Group Managers managing other markets
  4. Internal stakeholders across Field Operations, Business Operations and deal execution communities 

  • Our Field Operations team provides operational services that include end-to-end deal management, advisory support, deal construct guidance and the most efficient path for order-to-cash and post-sales support.
  • The role is accountable for enabling a high-performing ODM organisation that supports sellers and field leaders through complex deal cycles, helps unblock and de-risk operational touchpoints, and enables quality, timely and compliant execution across the deal lifecycle. 

Expected Impact 

Organisational Leadership 

  • Be the leader who enables a successful ODM team, achieving maximum business value. Foster global thinking to evolve the ODM organisation for greater efficiency and broader impact. Enable a diverse and inclusive environment within Business Operations where great talent is developed and maximum potential is realised. 

Deal Advisory and Management 

  • Enable an efficient end-to-end deal advisory engine through ODMs by unblocking and de-risking vital operational touchpoints. Engage sales teams through the deal maturity cycle, executing upstream steps to influence and shape deal construct to enable transformational deals. Engage across organisations to resolve complex deal issues, as needed. Enable clear and concise communications to senior Field and Operations leadership. 

Market Understanding and Amplifying the Voice of Operations 

  • Maintain a clear view of what is critical to success for Microsoft EMEA markets, evolving strategies to adapt by understanding customer and business trends. Amplify the voice of Operations to field leadership, and bring field leadership priorities back to Operations leadership on how Operations is enabling, or needs to unblock, issues in each market, in close partnership with Field Operations Managers where needed. 

Quarterly Planning and Execution 

  • Establish and maintain a disciplined planning and execution rhythm for ODM scope each quarter, in advance of the quarter, with the full team aligned and clear on their role to deliver. 

Close Management 

  • Engage, enable and sustain a tight fiscal close review rhythm with sales leadership across markets to maintain focus on critical business deals, deal construct shaping, arrival and processing; ensure deal volumes are timely and valid; enable efficient processing through Operations process steps; and support rich and focused communications from ODM to sales teams. 

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a highly matrixed, multinational organisation. They will exhibit outstanding people management, organisational, planning, communication, judgement and negotiation skills. They will use data and analytics to drive performance insights and improvements, and will demonstrate a strong customer and compliance focus. 


Qualifications

Minimum / Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Operations, Finance or a related field, with a proven track record in programme management, process management, process improvement or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in people management and leadership, as well as managing projects, vendors, processes and change initiatives.
  • A fluent command of the English language in both verbal and written communication skills. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Demonstrated thought leadership, decision-making and impactful influence, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively to drive business goals and achieve key metrics.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills to deliver global solutions that support business objectives.
  • Experience using Business Process Management, Six Sigma, Lean, Agile and / or Scrum methodologies, with the ability to model as-is and to-be processes.
  • Experience with the quote-to-cash lifecycle, including quotes, agreements, orders and adjustments, to enable improved operational performance or similar.
  • Industry experience in Technology, AI, Cloud and / or Supply Chain, Compliance or Controls. 


Business Program Management M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across Romania is lei 279,700.00 - lei 556,300.00 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
