As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth. You'll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.

As a Global Contracts Negotiator, you will be responsible for oversight and assistance of the contractual needs for all aspects of building Google's Cable Landing Stations globally. You will take a leadership role in working with peers, managers, internal stakeholders, and executives of Google and general contractor partners.

Your key priorities are ensuring that our delivery teams’ contractual needs are fulfilled, negotiation of agreements to protect Google's rights while ensuring consistency in contracting and agreement performance, oversight of agreement administration across all projects, and interfacing with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. You will have a deep knowledge of construction agreements, including design-build, design-assist, design-bid-build, and others, as well as demonstrated commercial acumen to understand how construction agreements assist and structure.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of individuals; set and communicate individual and team priorities that support organizational goals. Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development, and provide feedback and coaching.
  • Develop high-fidelity parametric budget forecasts and implement rigorous controls to manage cash flow. By establishing "Should-Cost" models early, the team ensures fiscal discipline and prevents capital leakage across the development pipeline.
  • Craft integrated management schedules that synchronize site due diligence, design milestones, and equipment lead times. The team proactively manages dependencies to ensure speed-to-market remains an engaged advantage.
  • Lead General Contractor (GC) pre-qualification and selection to ensure project partners possess the technical scale and safety culture required for gCLS.
  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process, from Request for Proposal (RFP) to contract execution, ensuring market-specific commercial terms that adhere to Google’s risk appetite.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience leading to negotiations or business development.
  • Experience in people management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience leading complex and scalable cross-functional programs.
  • Ability to deliver results against key operational metrics and key performance indicators, to diagnose issues and drive corrective actions to improve performance.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
