Position Overview:

Siemens Mobility is seeking a Field Service Technician for our Washington DC location. In this hands-on role, you will help keep Amtrak’s Siemens ACS-64 electric locomotive fleet running safely, reliably, and efficiently by providing technical guidance and support to the maintenance workforce. The Field Service Technician will advise on routine maintenance, restoration, equipment failures, semi-complex installations, modifications, and repairs—playing an important part in delivering dependable service for our customer. With our 24/7 operations, you will work a rotating weekly schedule that includes weekends: 3 12-hour days from 6am–6pm and 4 10-hour days from 6am–4pm. We’d also ask that you be willing to work overtime as needed.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Follow all applicable safety rules, laws, and regulations while supporting a safety-first, zero-harm culture for yourself, coworkers, and the site.
  • Perform work in alignment with Siemens quality standards, maintenance instructions, and compliance requirements.
  • Support scheduled and unscheduled locomotive maintenance, including mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Provide first-line technical assistance to operations and maintenance staff to help resolve equipment issues efficiently.
  • Use the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to follow maintenance instructions, document defects, track incidents, and support issue closure.
  • Complete material transactions as needed to support fleet maintenance when Stores Keeper Controllers are unavailable.
  • Build strong working relationships with the customer while representing Siemens Mobility professionally.
  • Partner with site leadership on operational issues, system needs, and facility-related activities.

This posting outlines the primary responsibilities of the role, but is not all-inclusive; additional duties may be assigned in alignment with business needs.

To thrive in this role, you have:

  • Associate degree in an engineering subject area or at least 2 years of experience in an industrial, military, or maintenance environment.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting electrical AC/DC circuits, mechanical systems, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Excellently demonstrated English-language technical communication skills, including speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Candidates should be willing to work in non-climate-controlled environments and inclement weather if required or if applicable.

Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without needing current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.

Purpose is the reason a company exists. It's not about making money or selling products - it's the deeper "why" behind everything we do. It answers the question: What problem are we solving? What positive change are we creating?

The world needs technologies that work. Technologies that matter. Technologies that solve today's challenges and help shape a better tomorrow. And that's exactly what we build. By bringing together the real world (factories, buildings, power grids, trains) with the digital world (software, data, AI, digital twins), we help our customers become more competitive, resilient, and sustainable.

Our technology is everywhere - in trains and transportation, we help move people faster, safer, and more sustainably.
