What you’ll do as a Facilities & Barista Assistant at Akuna:
We are looking for an energetic individual tosupport our in-office coffee bar and help manage all aspects of providing service to employees each day. Our Chicago Headquarters offers a stocked kitchen, floor-to-ceiling whiteboards, ping-pong & pool tables, and a sweeping 360° view of the lakefront & city skyline, and ensuring the office operates at its best is crucial in this role. This is a 30-hour per-week position, from 8am to 2pm, Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with excellent attention-to-detail, who takes pride in the way the office looks and operates. In this role, you will:
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and overall appearance of kitchens, common areas, storage spaces, and shared office areas throughout the day
- Manage daily dishwashing operations, including loading and unloading dishwashers, putting away clean dishes, and washing and folding kitchen/bath towels
- Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces and equipment, including counters, tables, sinks, appliances, microwaves, toasters, glass doors, and other high-touch areas
- Perform routine and scheduled upkeep, including dusting, refrigerator clean-outs, kitchen shelving organization, plant care, and removal of expired or damaged products
- Restock beverages, snacks, communal refrigerators, paper products, soap, sanitizer, and other kitchen and office consumables to maintain appropriate daily supply levels
- Monitor and organize inventory using FIFO rotation, assist with weekly inventory counts, identify low-stock items, and communicate replenishment needs to the Facilities team
- Receive, organize, and properly store grocery, supply, and vendor deliveries while maintaining clean and orderly storage rooms and supply closets
- Provide general Facilities support, including reporting maintenance issues, replacing light bulbs and batteries, hanging signage, adjusting furniture, assisting with workstation setups and office moves, and escorting vendors or service technicians as needed
- Support office meetings and events by assisting with room setup and breakdown, maintaining supplies, and replenishing food, beverages, and other materials as needed
- Cross-train in coffee bar operations, equipment use, cleaning procedures, food safety standards, and closing procedures, and provide backup coverage during vacations, PTO, staffing shortages, or other operational needs
- Ability to lift 30lbs and stand for long periods of time
Qualities that make great candidates:
- Prior barista experience is a plus, but not required
- A self-starter with excellent customer service skills and a can-do attitude
- Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize responsibilities and multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Professional and reliable
- Ready and willing to propose ideas and give input on how to make the office environment even better
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel and Outlook

In accordance with Illinois Equal Pay Act, the minimum base salary starts at $36,000. Exact compensation offered may vary based on many factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and skill set. This role is also eligible for a discretionary performance bonus as part of the total compensation package and includes a comprehensive benefits package that may encompass employer-paid medical, dental, vision, retirement contributions, paid time off, and other benefits. The minimum base salary herein was determined in good faith by Akuna Capital LLC.
