Key job responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end technical strategy and roadmap for a critical domain within AWS Network Engineering
- Lead and grow a high-performing engineering organization of engineers across multiple locations, building a culture of operational excellence, innovation, and customer obsession
- Drive architectural decisions for highly available, large-scale distributed systems that serve millions of customers globally
- Partner cross-functionally with hardware engineering, network operations, product management, and science teams to deliver integrated solutions
- Establish and maintain the highest standards for system reliability, performance, security, and cost efficiency
- Drive operational excellence including on-call culture, incident response, and continuous improvement of availability metrics
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field - or equivalent work experience
- 15+ years of software development experience
- 10+ years of managing a team
- 5+ years of managing managers
- Experience building and running highly available, large-scale, distributed systems -externally facing product or service
- Proven ability to lead across multiple locations
Preferred Qualifications
- Track record leading through leaders, growing and leading engineering organizations of 100+ people
- Experience building and scaling a product or external service from early stage to enterprise-level success
- Multi-site leadership experience
- Remarkable technologist with high judgment and remarkable product vision
- Operational excellence background
- Deep experience with networking, distributed systems, or infrastructure at hyperscale

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
