Director, Core Infrastructure Engineering
The Director, Core Infrastructure Engineering leads a multi-geography software engineering organization building and operating core network-control, health, planning, and automation platforms for OCI’s Internet and Backbone infrastructure. This leader is accountable for technical strategy, organizational execution, service health, and cross-functional alignment across engineering, network operations, product, and planning stakeholders.
The organization owns business-critical systems including the Internet Route Controller (IRC), Backbone Health Reporter (BHR), Internet Probe Management System, Network Planning Service (NPS), Backbone control-plane services such as Path Computation Engine and Virtual Route Reflector controllers, and platform automation capabilities.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a distributed engineering organization spanning India and the United States, including engineering managers and senior technical leaders.
- Set the multi-year technical strategy and roadmap for network-control, observability, planning, and automation platforms supporting Internet and Backbone engineering.
- Ensure critical services are reliable, scalable, secure, and operationally mature, with clear ownership, on-call readiness, alerting, documentation, and service-level metrics.
- Stabilize and evolve inherited business-critical platforms, balancing operational health and KTLO reduction with committed roadmap delivery.
- Drive software-defined network-control capabilities that improve traffic engineering, congestion mitigation, path health assessment, incident response, and network planning.
- Translate complex engineering investments into measurable business outcomes, including improved reliability, reduced operational toil, faster mitigation, and better customer impact.
- Build strong operating mechanisms for planning, prioritization, execution reviews, risk management, and executive communication.
- Partner with Internet Edge, Backbone Engineering, Physical Networking, Network Management, DDoS, Product, and Planning teams to align roadmaps, dependencies, and operational requirements.
- Represent the organization in senior technical and business forums, clearly communicating tradeoffs, delivery risk, service health, and recommendations.
- Hire, retain, mentor, and develop high-performing engineers and managers; create durable team charters and delegate ownership effectively.
- Foster a culture of customer focus, operational excellence, technical rigor, ownership, and continuous improvement.
