Controls Engineering Technician, Solar Manufacturing
Description
Tesla is seeking a skilled Engineering Controls Technician with advanced expertise in Fanuc and KUKA robotics, coupled with a strong background in PLC programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance. You will help deploy 100GW of solar manufacturing from raw materials on American soil. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of automated manufacturing systems by maintaining, diagnosing, and optimizing robotic and PLC-controlled equipment. This position demands a proactive problem-solver with excellent technical skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Responsibilities
- During launch of this greenfield facility, support functional testing, equipment commissioning, LOTO reviews and safety sign-offs, and controls/work instruction development
- Maintenance and Reliability: Respond quickly to production downtime events, applying troubleshooting expertise to restore functionality. Analyze recurring equipment issues, identify root causes and implement corrective actions
- Robotics: Program, troubleshoot, and maintain Fanuc / KUKA robotic systems for optimal performance
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate records for programming changes, system configurations and maintenance requested activities. Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes and regulatory requirements in all systems of operations
- Collaboration and Support: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production and maintenance to meet operational goals. Along with assisting in the design, testing and deployment of new automation projects
- System Integration and Optimization: Identify opportunities for improving system efficiency and reliability through software and hardware enhancements
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of controls technician experience in a high-volume manufacturing/industrial environment or applicable technical certificate / degree
- Highly Skilled in Kuka and Fanuc Robotics Systems
- Skilled in SCADA systems such as Ignition and Factory Talk View
- Skilled in PLC Languages such as Allen Bradley controls logix
- Experience working in a fast paced and dynamic environment and able to manage multiple priorities
- Comfortable running equipment using internal or 3rd party software, able to decipher logs and troubleshoot equipment
- Capability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed during launch
