Commercial Strategy and Planning Associate, Merchant Selection Strategy & Pricing
About the role and team
As an Associate for Deal Desk, Commercial Strategy and Planning at Uber Eats, you will play a critical role in the design and implementation of data-driven strategies to empower high-quality selection growth that drives eater frequency while optimizing business economics. It requires close collaboration with Product, Central Ops, and Commercial teams across multiple regions to drive product and project strategy and rollouts focusing on merchant success and Uber’s overall business performance.
This role sits at the intersection of marketplace strategy, product, data, and commercial execution. Serving as a key partner to Commercial teams to fuel merchants’ growth.
What you’ll do
- Drive Process Excellence: Design and implement standardized frameworks, playbooks, and AI-based commercial tools that enable faster, more consistent commercial decisions across the merchant lifecycle.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with Commercial, Finance, and Legal to operationalize pricing and selection decisions, ensuring our value proposition remains competitive and sustainable.
- Program Management: Lead and own strategic programs and projects, ensuring robust follow-ups and accountability throughout the project lifecycle, from inception to completion.
- Product Planning and Enablement: Influence global teams on priorities and prepare rollout and enablement locally for commercial teams and end users.
- Analytics and Automation with AI-First mindset:
- Analysis: Develop analysis related to day-to-day results and performance of the charters owned that generate actionable recommendations to the regional and local leadership teams on where to focus resources
- Tooling: Create scalable tools that can be available for commercial teams, ensuring the tools can be adopted and used by less tech-savvy users
- Advance Data-Driven Insights: Build and own the modeling of merchant performance trends, including but not limited to investment impact and portfolio comparisons, to surface actionable insights for the Commercial and Operations teams.
Basic Qualifications
- 2+ years of professional experience in Strategy & Ops, Commercial Strategy, Finance, or Consulting roles within a high-growth marketplace or platform.
- Undergraduate degree in a quantitative field such as Engineering, Economics, Math, Finance, or Business.
- Analytical Rigor and Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency Excel/Google Sheets is required.
- Modeling: Experience building complex financial or scenario models from scratch and explaining assumptions to non-technical audiences.
- Communication and stakeholder management: Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly with senior leadership and commercial stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Skills: SQL and any other languages (Python, R analysis).
- Product/Project Management: Working on cross-functional product/project rollouts and knowledge of CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce) is a plus.
- Commercial Judgment: Experience advising senior stakeholders on commercial decisions and the ability to build data-backed processes that improve operational efficiency.
- Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of restaurant economics, marketplace facilitation, and how pricing influences customer conversion and retention.
- Advanced Degree: MBA or Master's degree in a quantitative field preferred.

Responsibilities
For New York City, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $106,000 per year - USD $118,000 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD $106,000 per year - USD $118,000 per year.
For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
