Description and Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Platform Development

  • Lead BMC firmware development for Intel, AMD, and emerging server platforms.
  • Support server platform bring-up, integration, validation, and production release activities.
  • Collaborate with platform architects and hardware teams to define and implement server management solutions.

BMC Feature Development

  • Design and implement BMC firmware features including:
    • System Monitoring
    • Remote Management
    • Power Management
    • Thermal Management
    • Security Features
    • Redfish APIs
    • IPMI Services
    • Firmware Update Mechanisms
  • Optimize BMC firmware performance, reliability, and maintainability.

Technical Leadership & Debugging

  • Analyze and resolve complex firmware, hardware, and system-level issues.
  • Perform root cause analysis and debug customer-reported issues.
  • Drive issue triage activities across multiple engineering teams.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers when required.

Customer Engagement

  • Work directly with hyperscale and enterprise customers to understand technical requirements.
  • Translate customer requirements into product specifications and engineering solutions.
  • Participate in customer meetings, technical reviews, and issue investigations.
  • Provide quick responses and effective solutions to field issues.

Documentation & Design

  • Create functional specifications, design documents, feature proposals, and release documentation.
  • Define validation plans and acceptance criteria for new features.
  • Maintain engineering documentation throughout the development lifecycle.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with BIOS, FPGA, Hardware, Validation, Security, Manufacturing, and Program Management teams.
  • Coordinate with ODM/OEM partners and third-party vendors during product development.
  • Participate in server architecture reviews and roadmap planning discussions.

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in firmware development for server, embedded, networking, storage, or system management products.
  • 8+ years preferred for Senior Engineer level.
  • 10+ years preferred for Staff/Technical Lead level.

Technical Skills

  • Strong programming skills in:
    • C
    • C++
    • Python
    • Shell Script
  • Experience with Linux-based embedded systems.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting capability.
  • Understanding of computer architecture and server systems.

Server Management Knowledge

Experience with one or more of the following:

  • BMC Firmware Development
  • Redfish
  • IPMI
  • DMTF Standards
  • OpenBMC
  • AMI MegaRAC
  • ASPEED AST2600/2700
  • Server Management Controllers
  • Firmware Update Frameworks

Platform Knowledge

Hands-on experience with:

  • Intel Xeon Platforms
  • AMD EPYC Platforms
  • Server Hardware Architecture
  • PCIe
  • SMBus / I2C
  • SPI Flash
  • USB
  • Ethernet
  • Power & Thermal Management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CSP customers such as Microsoft, Google, AWS, Meta, or other hyperscalers.
  • Experience with OpenBMC development.
  • Knowledge of server security architecture.
  • Experience with firmware CI/CD, automated testing, and code review processes.
  • Familiarity with cloud computing infrastructure and datacenter technologies.
  • Experience leading technical projects or mentoring engineers.
