Meta is seeking an experienced product, privacy, and data law attorney to join the International Data Legal team covering LATAM and Canada. In this role, you will serve as a legal advisor on complex product, privacy, and data matters, including compliance with global and local frameworks, and regulatory engagement with authorities. You will partner closely with product, policy, engineering, compliance, and other legal teams to provide strategic legal guidance and engage with regulators on Meta's practices across its family of apps and technologies, including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and emerging platforms in AI, augmented reality, and wearables.

Responsibilities

Serve as a legal advisor on complex product, privacy, and data matters, including compliance with global and local legal frameworks Partner closely with product, policy, engineering, compliance, and other legal teams to provide strategic legal guidance across Meta's family of apps and technologies Engage with authorities and regulators on Meta's practices across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and emerging platforms and products in AI, augmented reality, and wearables Advise on compliance with international product, privacy, and data laws, identifying legal risks and developing practical solutions Lead regulatory engagement efforts including managing inquiries, investigations, and other proceedings with authorities across multiple jurisdictions Provide strategic counsel on product development, privacy-by-design principles, data governance, and cross-border data transfers Collaborate with cross-functional partners to align legal positions with broader organizational strategy on international product, privacy, and data issues Assess novel legal risks arising from new product features, AI systems, and emerging technologies, and develop scalable legal frameworks to address them Build and maintain relationships with external counsel, industry coalitions, and regulatory stakeholders to monitor evolving legal developments Communicate legal risk and strategic recommendations to senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to enable informed decision-making

Qualifications

Meta requires all employed attorneys to have a law degree or equivalent certificate to permit the practice of law and be appropriately licensed and authorized to practice law for the company in their assigned work location. Unless prohibited under local law, an attorney must hold a current practicing certificate (including where required from the relevant authority in the jurisdiction of the assigned work location) or the local law equivalent bar registration or license as may be applicable 6+ years of experience practicing product, privacy, and data law, including substantial experience advising on legal frameworks across multiple jurisdictions Active law license in good standing in at least one jurisdiction Experience advising on product, privacy, and data matters, including regulatory engagement with authorities Experience managing complex, multi-jurisdictional legal matters and influencing legal strategy at an organizational level Experience communicating legal risk and strategic recommendations to senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders in written and verbal formats Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews) Experience providing legal counsel within a large technology company or on behalf of technology clients at a law firm, with exposure to consumer-facing products, AI systems, or wearable and augmented reality platforms Track record of leading or contributing to regulatory proceedings before authorities or regulators Experience developing scalable legal frameworks or compliance programs that operate across multiple product lines and geographies Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements) Familiarity with product considerations specific to emerging technologies, including machine learning, on-device data processing, and others
