Description
80+% of all internet traffic is video and images. The Media Core - Video team is a high-impact group with a wide scope, enhancing the video consumption experience of billions of users across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Edits daily. We lead efforts in developing algorithms and metrics to enhance visual-quality at scale, state-art camera/graphics on client, and delivery, encoding and production of hundreds of millions of videos/day. We have demonstrated business impact across all above business verticals, while managing an optimal compute/storage footprint. We are actively hiring AI/ML experts to push the boundaries on visual compression and processing at Meta scale. This is a high-energy team that has had multiple business impacts across FOA videos, and we are now gearing towards the next step-change in user experience.
Responsibilities
Use expertise in image/video models to accelerate the frontiers of AI-based video compression and enhancement Design and implement ML-based quality metrics and metadata for traditional and novel audio/video processing use cases, pre/post processing and GenAI videos Build and optimize smart composition (ML, CV, and AI) and rendering for Calling, Creators (Edits) and native/Ads videos Create and refine intelligent algorithms to improve video quality for calling and video conferencing Drive cross-functional impact across the end-to-end stack to maximize multimedia quality, from ingest to delivery Push state-art on video enhancement (super-resolution, restoration, SDR-HDR, frame-rate conversion etc.)
Qualifications
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta 1+ year of industry experience as a researcher/specialist in computer vision, neural compression, or related AI/ML domain Extensive experience working with with video and/or image models Programming experience in Python and hands-on experience with frameworks like PyTorch or Spark Expertise in video/image codecs, processing, compression, and/or enhancement Masters degree or PhD in Computer Science, AI/ML, or a relevant technical field Demonstrated significant industry influence in the field of AI and/or published research in leading peer-reviewed conferences (e.g., ACL, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI, KDD, CVPR, ICCV)
Compensation: $58.65/hour to $181,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
