Our Security team works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. Security Engineers work with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. In this role, you will also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.

The Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) Sentinel team is a front-line resource for operational threat detection, assessment and triage. In this role, you will focus on open-source intelligence (OSINT) tasks that augment GSOC core functions, collecting and documenting incident information to effectively coordinate response to security threats and risks to the enterprise. You will be partner closely with near orbit Global Security and Resilience Services (GSRS) stakeholders to ensure information collection and processes are aligned with best practices and stakeholder needs across functional areas.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, evaluate, escalate and disseminate intelligence to support action plans based on credibility and likelihood.
  • Provide intelligence support to the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) in incident response, crisis management and global travel management.
  • Use open source material to find, research, and assess information that could indicate a potential concern to Google, our employees, and our interests. 
  • Support in the development of protocols and practices to assess and mitigate issues to Google, to drive efficiency, and to manage crises.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in law enforcement, intelligence, military role or equivalent private sector experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in open source intelligence.
  • Understanding of threat types and trends including global geopolitical trends as well as emerging risks.
  • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with excellent judgment, discretion and diplomacy skills.
  • Ability to take initiative while building cross-functional relationships.
  • Excellent thinking, problem-solving and decision making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
