Software Engineer II, AI Fitness Coaching

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. We are committed to developing and delivering an intelligent, personalized, and motivating experience by leveraging Large Language Model (LLM) technology and meticulously analyzing data streamed from Pixel Watches and other smart trackers. From backend systems to intuitive frontend interactions, this experience seamlessly integrates into every user's journey.

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

Responsibilities

• Write product or system development code.
  
• Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  
• Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
  

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  
• 1 year of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• 1 year of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Python, GO, or C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience designing, testing, delivering, and monitoring scalable, high-availability software in a cloud computing environment.
• Experience communicating with internal and external partners to create system design.
• Experience working on highly scalable, database-backed, distributed systems.
• Ability to focus on delivering value rather than pure engineering.
• Ability to work and achieve results, collaborating with other engineers without daily supervision.
