Description

As a key member of the hardware systems engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the convergence of complex and novel subsystem and product architectures aimed at pushing the state-of-the-art consumer mixed-reality systems. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to derive and interpret business and operational needs into technical requirements; determine critical interactions between subsystems; and work closely with engineering and field-based operations teams to describe success criteria. Furthermore, you will execute validation and verification activities for new product integration, including system level and subsystem testing, to ensure that the hardware systems meet the specified requirements and function correctly in the intended environment. You will work on complex engineering challenges by leveraging a broad understanding of Meta's infrastructure, identifying trends and systemic issues in the hardware fleet, and driving resolutions and risk mitigations.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with hardware and technology teams through phases of engineering design, development, and validation to bring data collections online Provide technical input to facilitate crucial data collection decisions Work on all aspects of system engineering from initial definition of requirements and specifications, identification of risk, opportunities, and tradeoffs through to the decision processes, implementation, and risk mitigation Develop processes and checklists to ensure comprehensive documentation, cross-functional alignment, and execution at all stages of product development [data collections], requirements flow, verification and validation, and interaction between various subsystems Execute verification and validation strategies to ensure that hardware systems meet the specified requirements and function correctly in the intended environment, in collaboration with cross functional teams Manage data driven methods for developing system requirements and verification related deliverables, such as specifications, design criteria, system descriptions, and verification tracking Demonstrate effective communication and documentation skills by collaborating with cross functional teams, developing clear technical documentation, and assisting in debugging complex systems

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent industry experience 2+ years of experience in integrated hardware and software product development Experience contributing to urgent projects through to completion while balancing evolving priorities and a range of stakeholders Technical experience in one or more of the following hardware disciplines: electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, display, optics, cameras, audio, wireless, and systems engineering Experience working on cross-functional technology teams through personal accountability and influence Analytical skills. Capacity to drive triage testing, debugging, and root cause analysis for hardware blocks Experience conveying complex technical concepts and drive alignment on product requirements and architecture, both within and across organizational levels Experience with command line interfaces, network systems, server systems, control systems Experience with some programming languages (Python, C++, etc.) Competence in hardware signal analysis Experience parsing system & software logs as part of root cause analysis Experience with motion capture, multi-camera, time synchronization and robotics systems Data collections experience in film, video games, or interactive media
