Job Description:

This position requires candidates to upload a resume in English; you are welcome to upload multiple versions of your resume if you prefer but an English version of your resume will be required to be considered for this position.

As a SoC Functional Validation Engineer, you will be responsible for defining, developing, and executing functional validation for complex System-on-Chip (SoC) designs. This role focuses on validating IP integration, interactions between IP blocks, and system‑level features to ensure silicon readiness. You will collaborate closely with architecture, design, verification, platform, and manufacturing teams throughout the entire product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • SoC Functional Validation
    • Define, develop, and execute comprehensive SoC functional validation plans.
    • Validate IP integration, inter-IP interactions, and full system‑level features to ensure functional correctness.
    • Apply diverse hardware and software tools and methodologies to ensure coverage of performance, power, and area (PPA) goals.
  • Debug, Analysis & Issue Resolution
    • Perform in‑depth silicon debug to identify root causes of functional issues and resolve triage failures.
    • Test and analyze interactions between SoC features using dedicated validation infrastructures.
    • Review design changes to assess impact on validation tasks, timelines, and coverage.
  • Infrastructure & Methodology Development
    • Develop post-silicon validation infrastructure such as performance monitors, behavioral checkers, and state-space coverage mechanisms.
    • Create and maintain test environments used for SoC validation, including simulation, emulation, and FPGA platforms.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement of validation methodologies and test strategies for SoC interfaces.
  • Collaboration & Reporting
    • Work cross-functionally with architecture, design, verification, board, platform, and manufacturing teams to support debug and optimize validation strategies.
    • Publish detailed SoC validation reports summarizing execution results, issues found, and recommended improvements.
    • Communicate findings and recommendations to relevant engineering teams.
  • Content Development for IP Interaction
    • Develop targeted test content to exercise specific IP interactions using various techniques, including microcode patches, firmware updates, and custom OS builds.
    • Engage in bug hunts and scenario creation across multiple validation environments.

Behavioral traits:

  • Collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
  • Problem-solving abilities and disciplined execution skills.
  • Communication and organizational skills.
  • Passion for learning and staying updated with advancements in SoC design and validation techniques.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in:
    • Functional validation and debug.
    • CPU architecture fundamentals.
    • Technical skills in functional validation, post-silicon validation, and defect triaging.
    • Validation tools, software, and hardware for testing and debugging SoC designs.
  • Intermedium English level.
  • Must have unrestricted, permanent right to work in Mexico (this role is not eligible for visa or immigration sponsorship).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree.
  • Familiarity with simulation, emulation, FPGA environments, and post-silicon infrastructure.

Requirements listed would be obtained through a combination of industry relevant job experience, internship experiences and or schoolwork/classes/research.
