We are seeking a dynamic Software Development Manager to join the DCV organization, leading a team working on the remote desktop protocol and on peripheral redirection. In this critical role, you will drive software development across multiple platforms (Windows, Linux, Mac, Web, Android, iOS) and the supporting infrastructure. Your leadership will balance immediate customer needs with a strategic vision for the future, requiring exceptional organization and prioritization skills.

This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the in-session experience for WorkSpaces users while developing engineering talent. You'll collaborate with leaders across End User Computing teams to create software that resolves customer friction points and delivers features customers love. Key job responsibilities
  • Define team structure, allocate resources, and balance tactical needs against strategic goals while working effectively with other teams to accomplish objectives.
  • Lead the design, implementation, and successful delivery of large-scale software initiatives through a team of engineers across multiple platforms.
  • Work backwards from customer needs to create a compelling vision that resolves friction points, writing clear PR/FAQs and evaluating tradeoffs that best serve customer interests.
  • Create mechanisms to scale operations, delegating appropriately while maintaining ownership and staying connected to implementation details.
  • Foster a sustainable workload environment while developing your team through collaborative development planning, coaching, and strategic project assignments.
A day in the life
Your day begins with leading the team through prioritization of customer requests, feature development, and technical investments. You'll collaborate with product managers to understand customer needs and translate them into actionable engineering plans. Throughout the day, you'll communicate your vision to our collective leadership and coordinate with partner teams to ensure alignment. You'll mentor engineers, remove roadblocks, and make technical decisions that balance immediate customer satisfaction with long-term platform health.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
  • 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
