Our Audio team pioneers research and development at the intersection of sound, machine learning, and human experience—enabling new ways for people to connect, communicate, and collaborate. We are seeking an accomplished Research Scientist with expertise in biosignal collection, processing, and interpretation, as well as machine learning model development, training, and evaluation. You will be a technical leader on an new project focused on AI wearables—advancing Meta’s Superhuman Communication & Connection initiative. Responsibilities

Lead research and development of advanced biosignal acquisition and processing pipelines for body tracking with wearable devices (e.g., Radar, Laser Speckle, Ultrasound, IMU, etc.) Design, implement, and evaluate machine learning models for biosignal interpretation, classification, and prediction Drive integration of biosignal and audio data streams to enable novel AI-powered communication and connection experiences Collaborate with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, ML, UX) to deliver robust, scalable solutions for real-world deployment Mentor and guide scientists and engineers foster technical execution and innovation Publish research findings in top-tier conferences and journals contribute to Meta’s intellectual property portfolio Identify and pursue new research directions at the intersection of biosignals, audio, and AI Translate research breakthroughs into impactful product features and experiences

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience PhD or equivalent experience in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Neuroscience, or related field 5+ years of hands-on research experience in biosignal collection, processing, and interpretation Proven track record in developing, training, and evaluating machine learning models for biosignal data Publication record in relevant conferences/journals (e.g., EMBC, NeurIPS, ICASSP, MLHC) Proficiency in Python, C++, or MATLAB for prototyping and algorithm development Experience with ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) Proven communication, collaboration, and leadership skills Experience with real-time biosignal processing on embedded or wearable platforms Background in multimodal sensing, AR/VR, or human-computer interaction Demonstrated ability to translate research into impactful product features Experience leading cross-functional research teams

Compensation: $184,000/year to $257,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
