Public Policy Manager, Germany, Austria, Switzerland
Description
We’re hiring a Public Policy Manager (DACH) to shape and execute Meta’s policy strategy across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, working on AI, wearables, privacy/data protection, competition, and technology regulation more broadly. You’ll work with a team of 4 highly motivated colleagues, proactively shape the policy environment, engage policymakers and regulators, build coalitions, and advise internal teams so our products and policy positions reflect the evolving regulatory environment.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute policy and regulatory strategies to proactively shape the policy environment for technologies like AI in the DACH region and Europe Monitor policy developments and legislation affecting Meta in Germany, Austria and Switzerland Brief internal stakeholders as well as suggest strategic approach to policy challenges Represent Meta in meetings with government officials and elected members of parliament, regulatory authorities, media and public forums to advance our policy position Draft and align policy positions together with other teams at Meta such as legal, functional policy and product teams Help build coalitions with other organizations such as trade organizations, associations and companies to advance policy goals of Meta - in particular with regard to simplification of EU regulation Deliver external communications (speeches, panels, consultations) and support proactive engagement plans Advise Meta teams on public policy matters to guide development of products, services and policies
Qualifications
A Master’s degree in Political Science, Social Science, Law or related field Minimum of 5 years of experience working on relevant policy and regulatory issues Full professional fluency in German and English to allow efficient communication with external and internal stakeholders Familiarity with working with politicians and government officials Demonstrated experience grasping complex technical and policy issues Demonstrated high interest in technology policy and innovation Proven experience to work with cross-functional teams from a wide range of disciplines Experience of working in a fast-moving environment and managing multiple priorities A track record of delivering highly impactful position papers, articles, speeches, and presentations on relevant topics Experience to translate between the specialist languages of technology and politics Experience using AI tools to support research, drafting, and analysis and other public policy work Willingness to travel (mainly Vienna, Brussels, London, Bern) Experience in government or with government institutions Experience in working with policymakers in Austria and Switzerland Having work experience in German industry (e.g., telecoms, manufacturing, automotive, publishers)
