Manufacturing Engineer, Global Manufacturing Operations
Google's custom-designed equipment makes up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Manufacturing Operations team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google’s powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you’re right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google’s infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

Responsibilities
- Act as the primary focal on-site engineer at supplier locations (CM) to oversee manufacturing assembly operations, infrastructure readiness for product line qualification.
- Facilitate the products transfer and qualification of new sites and production lines to enable a robust multi-sourcing strategy.
- Drive factory readiness, early participation in New Product Introduction (NPI) builds, support product bring-up, and provide design for excellence (DFx) and yield feedback.
- Manage products from launch through end of life (EOL), support sustaining activities and oversee assembly control, yield, automation solutions and cost reduction.
- Monitor L6/L10 assembly processes to lead root cause investigations and corrective actions working with the CM and Google cross-functional team.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in manufacturing Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) (L6), system integration manufacturing (L10), and NPI process development.
- Experience with CAD tools (e.g., Valor, AutoCAD, Cadence Allegro, and Gerber tools).
- Experience with cross-functional teams and CM/ODM partner collaboration.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's Degree or PhD in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- 20 years of experience in SMT and final assembly process development and sustaining.
- Experience in setting up SPC, CP and CPK monitoring, and with statistical analysis tools.
- Experience in leading, and with cross-functional teams, CM/ODM and partner collaboration.
- Knowledge of industry manufacturing inspection and testing procedures.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear direction to partners while managing multiple complex projects in ambiguous environments.
