Job Description

Overview:

Visa Commercial Solutions (VCS) is responsible for growing payment flows between businesses and governments, from SMBs to the world’s largest global enterprises. We deliver innovative, end‑to‑end payment capabilities that simplify critical business processes such as expense management, vendor payments, compliance, reconciliation, and reporting.

Our commercial products—including commercial cards, virtual payments, and data‑enabled solutions—help clients improve working capital, productivity, control, and transparency while enabling secure and efficient payments.

Role Summary:

The Commercial Product Lead – Visa Commercial Solutions is responsible for driving the adoption, performance, and commercialization of Visa’s commercial payment solutions across South Africa and selected Sub‑Saharan Africa markets.

This role will focus on deepening penetration and usage of existing Visa Commercial Solutions, by working closely with issuer clients, merchants, processors, and ecosystem partners. The role is market‑facing and highly collaborative, combining product leadership, solution selling, and partner orchestration to deliver measurable commercial outcomes.

The ideal candidate will bring strong commercial payments expertise, experience working with issuers, fintech partners and large corporates with the ability to translate market needs into scalable, commercially viable solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Product & Market Leadership:

  • Lead the commercialization and market execution of Visa Commercial Solutions with a primary focus on new payment use cases.
  • Be the subject matter expert for all our commercial products from acceptance models, controls, data, and reconciliation.
  • Translate market and client needs into clear product positioning, value propositions, and use‑case narratives.

Client & Issuer Engagement:

  • Partner closely with issuer clients to support sales efforts with corporate enterprise customers.
  • Engage directly with corporate decision makers (Finance, Procurement, Fleet, Operations) to articulate the value of Visa commercial payment solutions.
  • Support complex client opportunities, RFPs, and implementations through consultative solution design.

Ecosystem & Partner Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with issuers, processors, acquirers, and technology partners to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
  • Drive alignment across the value chain to ensure strong acceptance, seamless customer experience, and scalable growth.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance our product propositions through partnerships, integrations, and data capabilities.

Commercial Performance & Execution:

  • Support the development and execution of country and regional go‑to‑market plans for commercial payment solutions.
  • Contribute to volume, revenue, and market share growth by increasing product usage and penetration.
  • Partner with regional sales, pricing, and finance teams to structure commercially viable solutions and agreements.

Cross‑Functional Leadership:

  • Operate effectively within a highly matrixed organization, collaborating across product, sales, marketing, operations, risk, and technology teams.
  • Act as a trusted internal advisor on commercial payments, sharing best practices and market insights.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Visa Commercial Solutions through feedback and market intelligence.

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a bachelor's degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 or more years of relevant work experience with a bachelor's degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD

What We’re Looking For:

  • 10–15+ years’ experience in payments, financial services, or enterprise technology, with direct experience in commercial payments strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of commercial card products, virtual payments, and data‑driven payment solutions.
  • Demonstrated success in client‑facing, consultative roles, supporting complex sales cycles and multi‑stakeholder engagements.
  • Experience working with issuer banks and partners in a matrixed environment.
  • Ability to structure and support commercial deals with an understanding of issuer, acquirer, merchant, and partner economics.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical and commercial concepts clearly.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and comfortable operating in a fast‑moving, multi‑cultural environment.
