Job Description: 

We are seeking an experienced Silicon Photonics Test Engineer to develop and validate Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs), sub-systems, and reference modules. This role involves characterizing PIC and Electronic Integrated Circuit (EIC) performance, integrating PIC devices with Radio Frequency Integrated Circuits (RFICs), and collaborating with New Product Introduction (NPI) teams on product builds.

Key Responsibilities

Product Testing & Validation

  • Lead testing activities for high-speed optical products (100G/lane, 200G/lane, DWDM OCI)

  • Develop, automate, and execute comprehensive test setups

  • Troubleshoot and optimize sub-system and reference module board performance

  • Write detailed test reports and present findings to design teams

  • Optical Standards Knowledge: Understanding of optical transceiver Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) specifications including:

    • 800G DR8/2xFR4 and 1.6T DR8/2xFR4

    • 800G LPO and 1.6T LRO configurations

  • DSP Integration: Experience with Digital Signal Processors from Marvell, Broadcom, MaxLinear, and Credo in pluggable optical modules

  • RF Testing: Proficiency with high-frequency RF probes and calibration procedures using CAL substrates

  • Test Equipment: Experience with Arbitrary Waveform Generators (AWG), DCAM, Vector Network Analyzers (VNA/LCA)

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work cross-functionally with architecture, hardware, firmware, photonics, packaging, thermal, optics, and NPI teams

  • Interface effectively with product architects, mechanical, optical, photonics, firmware, process, and test engineers

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors with 6 years of experience or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields

  • 5+ years of high-speed PIC, RFIC, and systems testing experience

  • Test Equipment Proficiency: Hands-on experience with:

    • Arbitrary Waveform Generators (AWG), BERT for high speed data links

    • PAM4 DCAM sampling scope systems

    • Vector Network Analyzers/Large Signal Network Analyzers (VNA/LCA) for high-speed performance characterization

  • Automation Expertise: Demonstrated programming skills to control and automate evaluation boards and test instruments

  • Programming Languages: Proficiency in Python, C++, or equivalent automation software platforms

Preferred Qualifications

  • Device Physics: Deep understanding of opto-electronics devices and RFICs that drive optical devices

  • AI Integration: Experience using AI tools for code generation, debugging, and deployment

  • Optical transceiver test and calibration experience

  • Data Analysis: Expertise in data analysis and summary presentation using: JMP/Python/Matlab for advanced data analytics and reporting

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US: $164,470.00-311,890.00 USDThe range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations.
