The Platform and Devices Engineering Infrastructure and Operations (PDEIO) team works to increase the productivity of all engineers in the ecosystem, starting right here at Google. The team enables everyone to ship high-quality code quickly. The goal is to take the world's largest operating system to new heights of efficiency, velocity and effectiveness.
As a Data Scientist in Engineering Productivity Organization, you will be at the forefront of improving how the platforms are built and delivered, impacting billions of users and hundreds of OEM partners.
The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $113,000-$161,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Perform analysis utilizing relevant tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python). Apply standard/common tools, resources, and processes to defined problems and for moderately difficult projects, execute problem-solving tasks with guidance.
- Own the process of gathering, extracting, and compiling data across sources via relevant tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python). Format, re-structure, and validate data to ensure quality.
- Provide expert data science guidance, enabling data-driven decisions that accelerate development and improve efficiency.
- Partner cross-functionally with Engineering Productivity (EngProd) and core developer, and many other organizations to accelerate and simplify the developer workflows for Android engineers.
- Work closely with an Applied AI team solving complex business problems using ML and Large Language Model (LLM) solutions
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
- 2 years of experience with analysis applications (extracting insights, performing statistical analysis, or solving business problems), and coding (Python, R, SQL), or work experience with an advanced degree.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
- 3 years of experience with analysis applications (extracting insights, performing statistical analysis, or solving business problems), and coding (Python, R, SQL).
