Supply Base Engineer, Rack Power
In this role, you will deliver industry-leading rack-level power conversion and power back-up technology in an exceptional, resilient supply chain to enable the massive scaling of Google’s data center infrastructure while proactively mitigating risk and reducing total cost of ownership.
Supply Base Engineers (SBE) are the technical architects of Google’s physical reality, bridging the gap between innovative design and large-scale manufacturing. As an SBE, you will move beyond high-level procurement to seamlessly connect yourself to the supply base, driving the manufacturing maturity and process stability required to bring complex rack power systems to life.
Because Google operates at an unprecedented scale, your ability to optimize factory processes and de-risk production lines and supply chains directly dictates the speed of deployment. You won't just manage a supplier you will transform their technical capabilities to ensure that every watt of power conversion meets Google’s relentless standards for resilience and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Build dynamic capacity models to validate supplier output against forecasts, and proactively resolve bottlenecks in asembly/test processes to streamline production and ensure scalability.
- Analyze supplier process/yield data to optimize processes, and partner with supplier quality engineers to drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Conduct on-site NPI and production audits to assess manufacturing maturity system controls, ensure alignment with Google’s rigorous standards.
- De-risk the supply chain by identifying single points of failure and qualifying second sources for critical sub-components.
- Conduct deep-dive analyses into critical sub-tier components to secure sufficient capacity and optimize for resiliency to prevent production line-down situations.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in manufacturing or related field.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
- Experience in power electronics, rack-level power conversion or high-complexity hardware infrastructure.
- Experience in architecting end-to-end electro-mechanical and PCBA assembly lines, testing protocols, and transitioning products seamlessly from NPI to high-volume production.
- Experience in SPC, FMEA, and RCCAs to proactively identify and mitigate production risks.
- Understanding of SQL, scripting, or data visualization to translate complex factory-floor data into actionable insights.
