About the Role:
CrowdStrike, a pioneer in cybersecurity, is seeking an innovative and visionary Director of Data Science to spearhead our Generative AI (GenAI) initiatives for the NGSiem (Next Generation Security Information and Event Management) product line. This pivotal role will be instrumental in defining and executing the data science strategy that propels us towards our audacious vision of a fully autonomous, AI-native Security Operations Center (SOC). You will lead the charge in leveraging GenAI to revolutionize threat detection, accelerate incident response, and empower security teams with unparalleled intelligence and automation.
As the Director of Data Science, you will own the end-to-end delivery of our ambitious AI roadmap. You will work closely with functional teams to deliver cutting-edge AI capabilities that not only enhance platform intelligence and automate critical security workflows but also enable our customers to safely operationalize agentic AI within their security operations
What You'll Do:
Strategic Leadership
Partner with product management to define and plan the data science strategy for GenAI initiatives for NGSiem, translating business needs into impactful AI solutions.
Drive innovation in AI/ML methodologies specifically tailored for complex cybersecurity use cases, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in threat detection and response.
Foster strong collaboration to drive leadership alignment on strategic investments required to meet ambitious business objectives.
Establish best practices and build foundational components to facilitate reuse, rapid iteration, and accelerated go-to-market for AI-powered features.
NGSiem Data Science Ownership:
Lead all data science efforts for NGSiem to significantly advance detection, triage, and proactive threat hunting capabilities through AI.
Establish rigorous accuracy standards and SLAs, incorporate industry best practices, and build robust tools for evaluating and continuously improving model efficacy.
Develop and implement advanced engineering and modeling methodologies for the iterative improvement of AI model accuracy and performance at scale.
Design and build intelligent AI agents and optimize ML models to automate a broad spectrum of security use cases, including but not limited to detection management, sophisticated threat hunting and analysis, and rapid response actions.
Drive cutting-edge research and implementation of novel approaches for security-specific Natural Language Processing (NLP) and advanced reasoning capabilities.
Strategically leverage and actively contribute to enterprise-level AI platforms, ensuring seamless integration and scalability.
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead and grow a world-class team of data scientists, ML engineers, and research scientists.
Cultivate a culture of innovation and technical excellence through mentorship and development.
Partner with engineering teams to define strategy and ensure seamless execution.
Foster collaboration with product, design, and security teams.
Technical Excellence & Innovation:
Stay at the forefront of AI/ML research, particularly in areas relevant to cybersecurity.
Drive adoption of state-of-the-art techniques in large language models, multimodal AI, and agentic systems.
Establish rigorous experimentation frameworks and A/B testing methodologies.
Ensure responsible AI practices, including fairness and explainability.
What You'll Need:
Education & Experience:
PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or related quantitative field, OR
Master's degree with 8+ years of relevant industry experience
5+ years of experience leading data science teams in production environments
3+ years of experience with large language models, generative AI, or related technologies
Technical Expertise:
Deep expertise in machine learning, deep learning, and statistical modeling
Extensive experience with LLMs, transformer architectures, and generative AI techniques
Proficiency in Python, R, or similar languages for data science and ML
Experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, etc.)
Experience in MLOps, model deployment, and production ML systems
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and distributed computing
Knowledge of vector databases, embedding models, and RAG architectures
Leadership & Communication:
Proven track record of building and leading high-performing data science teams
Experience managing complex, multi-project initiatives with dependencies
Strong communication skills with ability to present technical concepts to executive leadership
Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth technology companies
Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
Domain Expertise:
Experience in cybersecurity, threat detection, or security analytics
Background in anomaly detection, fraud detection, or similar security-adjacent domains
Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, threat intelligence, and security operations
Experience with time-series analysis, log analysis, or security event correlation
Advanced Technical Skills:
Experience with agentic AI systems, multi-agent frameworks, or autonomous systems
Background in reinforcement learning, particularly for decision-making systems
Experience with model interpretability and explainable AI practices
Experience with real-time ML systems and low-latency inference
Industry Experience:
Previous experience at a high-growth SaaS or cybersecurity company
Experience with enterprise B2B products and customer-facing AI systems
Background in building AI products that operate at scale (millions of users/events)

CrowdStrike, Inc. is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Placement within the pay range is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, job level, supervisory status, and location.
