Area Tech Lead, Google Cloud Business Platform

We are a product and engineering organization responsible for the applications and platforms that drive Cloud Marketing, Sales, Partner, Support, Finance and other critical functions that run the Google Cloud business. As a Software Engineer on the Google Cloud Business Platform team, you will serve as a technical architect responsible for driving the technical design and execution for our core business platforms. In this role, you will own technical designs and guide multiple engineering teams to build the scalable, resilient, and automated systems that power Google Cloud's lead-to-cash lifecycle. You will the ability to operate at a high-level to set the big picture architecture while also providing detailed technical guidance to individual teams, ensuring your contributions have an impact on scaling the Google Cloud business.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Drive technical architecture for various cross-functional projects by designing resilient, scalable, and adaptable architectures that evolve with business needs.
- Lead execution of projects working closely with Product Management, Business, and Engineering teams to balance long-term architectural goals with short-term business needs and organizational timelines and to deliver innovative solutions.
- Establish data foundation for various analytic and reporting needs across Lead-to-Cash business process to enable accelerated agentic transformation, and lead and execute various agentic transformation projects.
- Advocate engineering best practices and technical excellence across the organization. Mentor and coach engineers, help develop talent and build a community of technical leaders.
- Identify and solve complex, ambiguous technical problems that span multiple systems and complex data architecture. Drive software development efforts to ensure delivery of high-quality, impactful platform features and services.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience with full stack software development, across back-end such as Java, Python, or GO and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
- 5 years of experience with design and architecture, testing/launching software products and translating business requirements into technical roadmaps and architectural blueprints.
- Experience in designing and building Agents leveraging LLMs to transform various business processes in enterprise applications.
- Experience building enterprise-level software systems, including defining multi-service APIs and managing data schemas.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience with cloud services (e.g., Google Cloud Platform) and technologies.
- Experience communicating complex technical strategies and trade-offs to executive leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience mentoring executive engineers and fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation within a broader engineering organization.
- Knowledge of enterprise domains such as sales automation, order management, billing, or financial systems.
- Excellent problem solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity.
