Deals Revenue Recognition Lead, Platforms and Ecosystems

You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports. You'll lead an accounting process from end-to-end. Other responsibilities include reconciling balance sheets and P&L accounts, and providing supplementary financial information for internal and external reports.
We're a Business Controllership team dedicated to supporting the Platforms and Ecosystems team. Platforms and Ecosystems is positioned and plays a critical role within the Google Ecosystem. Platforms and Ecosystems is evolving and innovating, and our team has opportunities to support and operationalize new and unprecedented business initiatives and strategies. We will partner closely with both the business teams (Product, Product Legal, Finance) and central/corporate teams (Corporate Accounting, Taxation, Related Compliance, Tax) at all times.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $125,000-$183,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Apply technical accounting standards and analyses to program proposals at various stages. Coordinate with business controllers to incorporate operational implications in the Controllership feedback. Maintain a record of all active programs with relevant accounting assessments.
- Establish and maintain revenue recognition and other accounting policies pertaining to various platforms products within Platforms and Ecosystems (ChromeOS, Chrome Browser, Workspace for EDU).
- Collaborate with other technical accountants to ensure standardization and consistency in process, policy and applications.
- Provide expertise to daily accounting questions within your assigned Product Area and identify and analyze implications of Alphabet-wide policies and new accounting standards.
- Lead projects aimed at improving financial accuracy, such as periodic PO audits and business team training. Support various reporting needs through tracking and reporting of accounting errors, conventions, agreement commitments, cross-Product Area agreements, etc.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
- 7 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 5 years with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.
- Experience in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), with a focus on Revenue (ASC 606) Accounting in a public accounting or multinational company setting.
Preferred qualifications:
- MBA or Master's degree.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
- Experience managing project planning, status reporting, timeline estimation, issue tracking, meeting facilitation, and project documentation.
- Ability to propose next steps and roadblock solutions and anticipate questions and issues early, manage time, and follow work plans.
- Excellent collaborative and investigative skills and ability to communicate effectively with executive management and work with cross-functional and international teams.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills and focus on continuous improvement.
