Business Controller, XR
Google accountants are a savvy bunch who handle the core accounting responsibilities at Google. You know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports. You'll lead an accounting process from end-to-end. Other responsibilities include reconciling balance sheets and P&L accounts, and providing supplementary financial information for internal and external reports.
Our team works very closely with the Product, Engineering, Financial Planning and Analysis, Legal, Treasury and Tax teams on operationalizing and scaling new business models and products from the very beginning of product ideation all the way through post-launch support and ongoing financial reporting including month and quarter end close.
As the XR Business Controller, you will be responsible for the XR portfolio within the Platforms and Devices Product Area and work closely with a group of cross-functional leaders to launch new products and programs and manage both management and GAAP based financial reporting requirements.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $102,000-$146,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage global processes for the accounting of XR portfolio, including business growth and incentives, cost of sales, operational expenses, and the related balance sheet reconciliations.
- Partner with Financial Planning and Analysis, Product, Engineering, and other cross-functional business partners to define, establish, and implement accounting systems, processes, and procedures. Review processes and implement controls to ensure mitigated risk for Google.
- Perform month-end close processes, including agreement review and preparing/posting journal entries. Prepare and present financials to management and support with any requests from cross-functional teams.
- Identify opportunities and implement programs to centralize, eliminate, automate, or send out activities. Work with providers to send out established or mature processes and manage ongoing activities.
- Work through accounting implications and operationally support business agreements. Provide accounting guidance to Sales, Product, and other cross-functional teams.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 1 year with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.
- Experience in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), with a focus on Revenue (ASC 606) Accounting in a public accounting or multinational company setting.
Preferred qualifications:
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
- Experience managing project planning, status reporting, timeline estimation, issue tracking, meeting facilitation, and project documentation.
- Ability to have a collaborative style and work with cross-functional and international teams.
- Ability to propose next steps and roadblock solutions and anticipate questions and challenges early, manage time, and follow work plans.
- Excellent investigative skills and ability to communicate effectively with executive management.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills and focus on continuous improvement.
