About the Role:
CrowdStrike is seeking an Assistant General Counsel, Information Governancebased in the United States to support the company’s evolving governance needs across AI, data, and enterprise information systems. This senior role reports directly to CrowdStrike’s privacy leadership.
This role is distinct from traditional privacy or litigation-focused legal roles. The Assistant General Counsel, Information Governance will focus on providing legal advice and practical guidance on information governance, data governance, and AI governance, supporting both product development and internal enterprise operations in a complex, global SaaS environment.
The role requires deep technical fluency, strong legal judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a highly matrixed organization, partnering closely with Engineering, Data Science, IT, GRC, and Legal colleagues across the company.
This is a high-impact role for an attorney who can translate emerging legal, regulatory, and governance requirements into scalable practices for a Fortune 500 technology company.
Location Requirement: This role is open to candidates based remotely in the U.S., with a preference for those located on the East Coast and able to collaborate effectively with both U.S. and EU teams.
What You’ll Do:
Serve as CrowdStrike’s legal leader for information governance.
In this role, you will provide practical, risk-based legal advice grounded in a strong understanding of technology, facts, and business context.
1. AI Governance & Product Advisory
Work directly with Product Legal to assist in providing legal advice to product, engineering, and data science teams on AI governance, including data usage, model development, deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management.
Advise on legal and regulatory considerations applicable to AI systems, including emerging global AI governance frameworks, accountability mechanisms, and risk management expectations.
Partner closely with Product Legal, Privacy, and Security teams to ensure consistent, coordinated guidance across AI, data, privacy, and security domains.
Help teams operationalize legal requirements in a way that supports innovation, scale, and customer trust.
2. Information & Data Governance Leadership
Advise internal stakeholders on information governance and data governance frameworks, including data classification, retention, access controls, and responsible use of information assets.
Support IT, GRC, Engineering, and Data teams with practical legal guidance on system design, data flows, and governance controls in a global SaaS environment.
Identify and assess governance risks associated with enterprise systems and emerging technologies, and help design defensible mitigation strategies.
Provide guidance on any law enforcement requests and work with Legal to facilitate appropriate responses.
3. Policies, Standards, and Procedures
Draft, review, and maintain information governance, data governance, and AI governance policies, standards, and procedures.
Ensure governance documentation is clear, operationally usable, and aligned with legal, regulatory, and certification requirements applicable to a large, global technology company.
Support internal adoption of governance frameworks through collaboration, education, and clear guidance.
4. Certifications, Assurance, and Regulatory Readiness
Advise on governance-related aspects of certifications and assurance frameworks relevant to security, privacy, data, data sovereignty, and AI.
Partner with Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC), Security, and Privacy teams to ensure governance controls are appropriately designed, documented, and auditable.
Support internal and external assessments by helping teams accurately articulate governance practices and maturity.
5. Cross-Functional & Legal Collaboration
Work closely with Legal colleagues across product, commercial, regulatory, and compliance functions to provide aligned and consistent legal guidance.
Navigate issues through appropriate internal governance channels, balancing collaboration, accountability, and efficiency.
Build trusted relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders through credibility, responsiveness, and sound judgment.
This role does not focus on litigation support or e-discovery, and instead concentrates on forward-looking governance of data, information, and AI systems.
What You’ll Need:
Juris Doctor (JD) and active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
10-12+ years of relevant legal experience, including significant in-house and/or law firm experience supporting technology, SaaS, cloud, or cybersecurity organizations.
Demonstrated experience advising on information governance, data governance, AI governance, or closely related areasin a complex enterprise environment.
Strong understanding of cybersecurity laws and regulations, information governance rules and standards, and emerging AI regulatory frameworks.
Deep technical aptitude, with the ability to understand complex systems, data flows, and technical architectures.
Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, data science, IT, and GRC teams.
Experience drafting and operationalizing policies, standards, and procedures at enterprise scale.
Strong ownership mindset, sound judgment, and ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
Proven leadership in managing people and projects.
Ability to develop a thorough understanding of facts before providing advice, and to deliver practical, business-oriented legal guidance.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal and technical concepts for various audiences.
Bouns Points:
Experience advising on AI systems, machine learning, or advanced analytics in production environments.
Familiarity with global AI governance initiatives, standards, and assurance models.
Background in cybersecurity, information security governance, or enterprise risk management.
Experience supporting certifications, audits, or regulatory examinations.
Experience working in a Fortune 500 or similarly scaled global organization.
