Network Engineer, Foundation and Support (In-Rack Power Products)
Description
This role presents an exciting opportunity to shape the reliability and scalability of Meta’s global network by owning the rack-level power products and monitoring capabilities that keep our edge sites and data centers running. As a Network Engineer within the ENS Foundation Design team focused on In-Rack Power Products, you will drive the end-to-end lifecycle of smart in-rack power solutions—from supplier selection and qualification through global deployment, monitoring, and operational support. Your work will directly improve infrastructure availability, accelerate deployment readiness, and raise the bar on power visibility and incident prevention across Meta’s footprint.
Responsibilities
Product Lifecycle Management: Lead the end-to-end lifecycle for in-rack power products with supplier partners, from concept and qualification through mass production and end-of-life Supply Chain Partnership: Partner with internal hardware platform teams and sourcing to ensure a resilient supplier base and product availability aligned with forecasted demand Rack Power Standards: Define and maintain rack power standards, including test requirements, labeling/color-coding, naming conventions, and configuration guidelines Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation (wikis, drawings, dashboards) for in-rack power solutions Installation & Serviceability: Develop and maintain runbooks and procedures for consistent installation and service of in-rack power products and related upstream electrical infrastructure Monitoring: Improve power monitoring by deploying smart in-rack PDUs to enable proactive alerting and detection of power and environmental issues Troubleshooting: Create and maintain troubleshooting guides for in-rack power and environmental issues across data centers and edge sites Cross-functional Execution: Partner with internal and external design and planning engineers to execute cage and suite network/compute infrastructure build-out projects, ensuring rack power standards, monitoring, and deployment readiness requirements are met Program Management: Manage project timelines and risks to drive on-time delivery Continuous Improvement: Apply lessons learned to drive process and quality improvements Travel 15%–20% based on project demand
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience 5+ years of experience designing, qualifying, and deploying rack-level power products for data center and networking equipment Thorough knowledge of power distribution and monitoring systems, including smart in-rack power distribution units (PDUs) and upstream electrical infrastructure Working knowledge of electrical fundamentals, including AC/DC power concepts, redundancy scenarios, and interpreting electrical single-line diagrams Working knowledge of relevant standards and regional practices (e.g., IEC/NEMA) and common data center electrical configurations Demonstrated project management experience delivering complex technical projects (planning, execution, and delivery) Demonstrated planning, prioritization, and communication skills, with experience collaborating across global, cross-functional teams Working knowledge with networking concepts (routing/switching/network cabling) and how redundancy/failover requirements influence infrastructure design Experience leading supplier selection and new product introduction (NPI), including validation/testing, pilot deployments, and operational rollout at scale Experience with power product sourcing, supplier performance management, and supplier optionality initiatives Familiarity with installation procedures and field QA/QC for power infrastructure in data center environments Experience defining ownership models and operating processes across design, deployment, and operations for network power systems Experience supporting edge/colocation environments (including cages/suites) and coordinating with external facility partners Experience automating workflows via scripting and tooling (e.g., Python, Bash) and building dashboards/metrics to monitor operational health
