What you can expect
Zoom is looking for a Litigation Counsel to join our close-knit and collaborative team that manages litigation, intellectual property, and regulatory matters. This role will provide critical support to the litigation team by building and improving processes, maintaining records, and coordinating communications within the litigation team and across Zoom. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of managing multiple priorities in an evolving environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive results. This position reports to the Chief Privacy Officer.
About the Team
Our litigation team advises on a wide range of subject-matter areas. These include data privacy, securities, consumer class actions, intellectual property and commercial litigation, and interacts with cross-functional teams across the company.
Responsibilities
Triaging and coordinating requests sent to the litigation team.
Assisting with fact investigation for pre-litigation, litigation and regulatory matters and coordinate with cross-functional teams to operationalize resolutions.
Leading responses to subpoenas and similar requests, manage and negotiate resolutions to disputes with customers, vendors and other third parties, escalating significant issues as appropriate.
Drafting and reviewing pleadings, discovery responses, settlement agreements, and correspondence for routine matters.
Managing case files, including the organization, maintenance, and tracking of key deadlines, court filings, and correspondence.
Identifying areas for improvement in various litigation processes and leverage generative AI tools to develop, implement, and streamline methodologies.
Leading Discovery efforts, including document collection, review, and production in collaboration with internal IT teams and external vendors.
Leading the litigation hold and retention process, including ensuring timely implementation, monitoring, and release.
Organizing and maintaining databases of discovery documents and case materials, ensuring accessibility for internal and external teams.
Leading trademark, copyright and patent portfolio management, including monitoring filing deadlines, coordinating with outside counsel, and maintaining accurate records of IP assets across multiple jurisdictions.
Assisting with IP litigation with a focus on the technology and patent specific aspects of IP litigation.
Liaising with internal departments, including finance, HR, and IT, to gather information and provide support on litigation and regulatory matters.
Coordinating with external counsel to manage budgets, track expenses, and ensure alignment with internal processes.
Assisting with special legal projects, including internal audits, risk assessments, or policy updates.
Maintaining and updating litigation management systems, ensuring accurate tracking of all active matters.
Reviewing and directing legal mail.
What we’re looking for
JD from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one US state bar.
3-5 years in a law firm, in house, or government attorney role.
Experience with complex eDiscovery issues and processes.
Exposure and understanding of basic IP law concepts; experience with IPRs or other similar proceedings is nice to have.
Eagerness to learn and get into the technical details.
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent work ethic and ability to multi-task, prioritize, and follow-through on numerous projects in an evolving, dynamic environment.
Practical, strategic, and results-oriented approach to problem-solving.
Experience using generative AI tools.
Salary Range or On Target Earnings:
Minimum:
$98,900.00Maximum:
$228,700.00In addition to the base salary and/or OTE listed Zoom has a Total Direct Compensation philosophy that takes into consideration; base salary, bonus and equity value.
Note: Starting pay will be based on a number of factors and commensurate with qualifications & experience.
We also have a location based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in this and other locations
