Staff Software Engineer, Mobile, Photos

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Google Photos is a photo sharing and storage service developed by Google. Photos is one of the most sought after products at Google and is looking for both client-side (web and mobile), with server-side (search, storage, serving) and machine intelligence (learning, computer vision) Software Engineers. We are dedicated to making Google experiences centered around the user.

Responsibilities

• Define technical direction and strategy in conjunction with engineering managers and technical leads, helping the team make balanced trade-offs, and prioritize engineering excellence investments in a systemic way.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to design and build industry-leading video editing features.
• Work with other engineers on a global team to improve the software components and architecture.
• Identify, triage, debug, track and resolve issues in existing code.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience in testing and launching software products.
• 5 years of experience with Android application development.
• 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• 8 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role, with leading project teams and setting technical direction.
• Experience in working with Large Language Model (LLM) models.
• Experience with videos.
