You lead all aspects of web development, requirements gathering, software development, testing, documentation, training, implementation, ongoing support, and maintenance for both in-house and customer-facing web applications. You will work closely with a cross-functional team of Googlers using UI and functional specs/prototypes as input. Google Cloud Business Platform's (GCBP) Finance teams enable Google Cloud's growth by delivering and managing seamless, scalable, and efficient Order-to-Cash systems and processes.

Google Cloud's scale and the variety of its offerings create unique and complex challenges in this space. This requires innovative solutions blending Google's own first-party systems and third-party enterprise systems like SAP. The team collaborates cross-functionally with Google Cloud's Ordering and Finance users and teams within GCBP. This team offers an opportunity to work on business-critical transformations that have a direct and significant impact on Google Cloud's success.

As a Staff Application Engineer, you'll act as a key technical leader and on-site engineering point of contact. You will have an opportunity to build partnerships with these business teams, understand their needs, and ensure our Order-to-Cash (O2C) systems and solutions, including SAP, provide seamless support for their critical operations.

In this role, you will represent Cloud SAP's technical capabilities and interests in cross-Product Area discussions and collaborations. You will be a technical leader with expertise in application engineering, excellent communication skills, and a passion for designing and delivering impactful solutions.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $183,000-$271,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the technical strategy and roadmap for key areas of Google Cloud's use cases using SAP. Serve as a subject matter expert on SAP technologies, GCP infrastructure, and their interplay.
  • Lead the design and architecture of complex, scalable, and reliable solutions for GCP's use cases and provide expert guidance and support to teams within Cloud and cross-Product Area teams on SAP, best practices, and troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to code development, code reviews, and testing to ensure high-quality engineering output.
  • Collaborate effectively with Product Management, other engineering teams, support to deliver customer success, and influence stakeholders across different teams and organizations to align on technical direction and best practices.
  • Drive improvements in system design, code health, testing, and operational efficiency and a culture of continuous improvement.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 12 years of experience working with SAP ABAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Experience in either Order-to-Cash (O2C) business processes such as ordering, subscription management, invoicing, or business recognition.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience working in an environment collaborating with multi-site engineering teams.
  • Experience driving technical strategy and roadmap execution in a complex and evolving business domain.
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
