Structural Test Development Engineer, Manufacturing
Be part of a team that pushes boundaries, developing custom silicon solutions that power the future of Google's direct-to-consumer products. You'll contribute to the innovation behind products loved by millions worldwide. Your expertise will shape the next generation of hardware experiences, delivering unparalleled performance, efficiency, and integration.
Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.
Responsibilities
- Drive comprehensive Design for Test (DFT) reviews to verify PCBA accessibility and manufacturability. Architect and implement global manufacturing structural test strategies for New Product Introduction (NPI), ensuring Contract Manufacturing/Original Design Manufacturing (CM/ODM) solutions align with stringent product requirements.
- Lead the end-to-end development and deployment of structural test platforms, including In-Circuit Testing (ICT), flying probe, and boundary scan, across partner manufacturing sites.
- Audit fixture qualifications using gauge repeatability and reproducibility and strain gauge analysis. Evaluate test plan stability and coverage to eliminate "false fails" and meet organizational quality benchmarks.
- Provide technical expertise throughout the product lifecycle. Drive test capacity readiness, support NPI builds, and perform deep-dive root cause analysis for manufacturing yield excursions and field escapes.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5 years of experience in manufacturing test engineering, structural engineering, or a related hardware validation role.
- 5 years of experience developing and deploying structural test solutions, specifically In-Circuit Testing (ICT), Flying Probe (FPT), and Boundary Scan (JTAG).
- Experience managing CM/ODM partners and implementing test strategies.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience leading New Product Introduction (NPI) test readiness, including capacity planning and root-cause analysis for manufacturing yield issues or field escapes.
- Ability to qualify test fixtures using gauge repeatability and reproducibility, and strain gauge testing to ensure mechanical and electrical reliability during the test process.
