
Billing Operations Lead

As the Billing Operations Lead, you will oversee and optimize the billing processes that are crucial to Lyft Business’s financial health. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring seamless billing operations, enhancing customer satisfaction, and driving efficiency at scale, embodying our value of operational excellence. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance (FP&A, accounting), sales, operations, engineering, and customer support, to develop, manage, and scale billing programs that align with Lyft’s goals.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the billing operations process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and industry regulations for Lyft Business.
- Own the accuracy and timeliness of complex invoice calculations and billing adjustments, including rebates, credits, and contract-specific pricing models.
- Own month-end and quarter-end close processes for Lyft Business billing, including revenue reconciliation and variance analysis.
- Develop and maintain SOPs, process documentation, and training materials for billing operations procedures.
- Support quarterly and annual financial audits, ensuring billing documentation and processes meet SOX compliance requirements.
- Identify opportunities to enhance existing billing systems, implement improvements, and maintain system integrity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Sales Operations, FP&A, Product Management, Engineering (Product, CRM, IT Corp, and FinTech), and Customer Support, to assess business needs and drive scalable billing solutions aligned with organizational OKRs and operational goals.
- Develop and launch initiatives aimed at streamlining billing operations and reducing billing errors, working closely with the AR team on customer impact mitigation.
- Assess and manage stakeholder expectations and ensure key stakeholders and decision-makers are bought-in on key initiatives and milestones.
- Analyze billing data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement, providing actionable insights to leadership.
- Ensure all billing activities comply with relevant laws and regulations, and prepare detailed reports on billing operations for management review.
- Serve as technical lead and mentor for billing specialists, providing guidance on complex billing scenarios and process improvements.
Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent experience required.
- 4+ years of experience in billing operations or finance; technical experience is a strong plus.
- Proficiency with SQL or similar data analysis tools for billing data analysis and reporting.
- Experience with B2B and usage-based billing processes is strongly preferred; experience with rebate calculations and complex pricing models is a plus.
- Understanding of billing regulations and compliance requirements within the industry.
- Experience with billing software and systems; proficiency in GSuite and Salesforce; familiarity with project management tools is preferred.
- Strong analytical abilities with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Proven ability to identify issues, develop solutions, and implement changes effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

The expected base pay range for this position in the San Francisco area is $88,000 - $110,000, not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
