Description

Meta's Reality Lab's organization brings together experts to develop and ship groundbreaking products at the intersection of hardware, software, and platform. The Technical Operations team has the responsibility for evaluating technologies and identifying supply chain solutions that allow AR/VR Org to deliver products to market at scale. The Manufacturing Test Engineer will drive the development and deployment of hardware test systems with manufacturing partners and third-party integrators. You will be driving the design, development, and validation of factory test systems specifically for display & optical measurements, including display panels, optical modules and final assembled products. You will help to define overall product test strategy, evaluate test equipment and qualification processes, and lead and facilitate integration of test systems into our existing data tracking networks and factory control systems. You will be designing and documenting new manufacturing equipment with standardization and reliability as a priority and creating test plans for validating existing equipment. The ideal candidate is a self-driven individual responsible for the design, development, and implementation of factory test systems. This role requires enforcing manufacturability and testability to ensure cost-effective designs for NPI test development and sustaining production.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement the manufacturing test strategies during NPI and mass production phases of the product lifecycle. Work with cross functional teams to design and deploy the test solutions Work with Engineering and Capex Teams to identify the best supplier/partner to meet product requirements from both technical perspective as well as supply chain and manufacturing considerations Develop test requirements and methodologies with Engineering teams, implement manufacturing tests at factory sites, troubleshoot and solve issues during product development and manufacturing ramp Interface directly with the Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and Vendor teams to assist in the development of test procedures, including First Article, Reliability, Environmental, Production and Final Acceptance Testing Work directly with the vendor and Contract Manufacturer (CM) engineers providing guidance and support as necessary in test methods, equipment, and test set-ups Coordination of and travel to suppliers (foreign and domestic) to establish technical and manufacturing processes required during product development and volume manufacturing ramp, International and domestic travel up to 40%

Qualifications

BS or MS degree in Engineering or equivalent experience 4+ years of experience in consumer electronic product development and volume manufacturing or related experience Knowledge of fundamental optical principles, color spaces, imaging systems, and the manufacturing processes for display and optical modules Knowledge of key factory measurement metrics for colorimetry, luminance, panel uniformity, Mura, flicker, etc Understanding of fundamental considerations of building hardware in development and volume production stages. Demonstrated experience in defining, developing, and troubleshooting manufacturing test issues Experience building cross-functional relationships Experienced in managing a group of vendor engineers/technicians, building a team providing swift and effective responses to technical tasks In-depth, hands-on experience with display & optical testing systems (e.g., using light sources, spectrometers, colorimeters etc.) Demonstrated experience in the technical down-selection and justification of optical metrology tools based on performance specifications such as measurement accuracy, repeatability, speed, cost analysis, and long-term maintenance requirements for mass production Proven ability to customize and integrate specialized display and optical test instruments (e.g., custom light sources, integrating spheres, conoscope lenses) into highly reliable, high-speed factory test stations Understanding of module test and manufacturing processes with direct experience managing manufacturing test implementation and execution Experience in a leadership position and achieving results with minimal supervision
