Staff Software Engineer, Cloud SQL Postgres

In this role, you will contribute to Cloud SQL, the relational database offering from Google Cloud platform that supports fully-managed database service hosting of PostgreSQL, MySQL and SQL server databases. You will enable customers to deploy highly available databases with focus on simplicity, reliability, durability, and performance at scale.

You will work on one of the fastest growing product lines under Cloud SQL is Cloud SQL Postgres, which offers a managed service based on the immensely popular PostgreSQL open source database. You will support the data foundation for a rapidly growing customer base ranging from startups to Fortune 500 enterprises. Your mission is to offer the best managed Postgres service and developer experience for the customers.

Responsibilities

• Drive the technical enhancement and maintenance of the Cloud SQL Postgres service while actively contributing code and expertise to the open-source PostgreSQL community.
• Lead technical projects from planning to delivery while helping to define the team's long-term goal and engineering strategy.
• Collaborate with product managers, customers, and partner teams to define product roadmaps and contribute to broader GCP database initiatives.
• Foster an open, and innovative team culture while providing technical leadership in a fluid environment.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of software development experience.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or other databases, including database internals and administration.
• Experience in designing systems and building managed services for databases or storage.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in C++ programming and SQL.
• Experience with query processing and query optimization techniques.
• Understanding of relational databases and database Internals.
