Technical Program Manager, Home Infrastructure

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.
Responsibilities
- Lead infrastructure engineering programs, driving strategic decision-making and technical direction to solve issues.
- Apply technical judgment to navigate engineering constraints, proposing and implementing novel solutions that optimize system performance and scalability.
- Orchestrate major technical migrations and cross-functional programs, ensuring seamless execution across various engineering teams and organizational levels.
- Drive 2-week iterative development cycles in collaboration with Engineering, Product, and Technical Program Manager partners, proactively resolving technical bottlenecks to maintain velocity.
- Synthesize data-driven insights and performance dashboards to provide crisp, executive-level communication regarding program health, milestones, and strategic progress.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in program management, release management or engineering management working on software and machine learning projects.
- Experience managing the full project lifecycle for technical migrations, system health/quality initiatives, and the reduction of technical debt.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in leading programs across multiple cross-functional teams and global geographies.
- Ability to have a strategic product mindset with a track record of making high-stakes prioritization decisions.
- Ability to have a high degree of self-direction, with a resourceful approach to navigating and succeeding within ambiguous project scopes.
- Excellent delivery record, consistently hitting milestones and driving organizational goals in high-pressure environments.
- Excellent investigative and organizational skills, with a focus on solving technical and operational issues.
- Excellent executive-level communication skills, with the ability to present technical strategies clearly to various audiences.
