Software Engineer III, AI/ML, Google Cloud

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.The Google Cloud AI Research team addresses AI challenges motivated by Google Cloud’s mission of bringing AI to tech, healthcare, finance, retail and many other industries. We work on a range of unique problems focused on research topics that maximize scientific and real-world impact, aiming to push AI and share findings with the broader research community. We also collaborate with product teams to bring innovations to real-world impact that benefits our customers.

Responsibilities

• Work with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities, understand key customer technical objections, and develop the strategy to resolve technical blockers.
• Provide Artificial Intelligence (AI) expertise to support the technical relationship with Google’s customers, manage product and solution briefings, create demos, proof-of-concept work, and partner directly with product management to prioritize solutions impacting customer adoption to Google Cloud.
• Recommend integration strategies, enterprise architectures, platforms, and application infrastructure required to implement a complete solution Google Cloud.
• Support developers, creators, and enterprises to leverage Google’s Generative Language Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) so they can build their own AI products in the future.
• Travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events as needed.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 2 years of experience with programming in Python or C++, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
• 1 year of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, optimization, data processing, debugging).
• Experience with core GenAI concepts (LLM, Multi-Modal, Large Vision Models) and experience with text, image, video, or audio generation.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience architecting and developing software or infrastructure for distributed systems and with machine learning technologies.
• Understanding of building end to end software architectures that use agentic or Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) driven capabilities.
• Understanding of responsible AI practice.
